This is a Lead Java Engineer position at Vice President Level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintains software solutions that support business needs.Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.What you’ll do in the role:Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance collateral management systemsDrive architectural decisions around caching strategies, multi-threading, and stream processingImplement and optimize data processing workflows spanning OLTP and OLAP systemsCollaborate with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical solutionsMentor and guide a team of developers while maintaining hands-on involvement in codebasesEnsure high availability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical applicationsImplement robust observability solutions for system monitoring and troubleshootingPartner with cross-functional teams to integrate with enterprise data platformsDrive continuous improvement initiatives and technology modernization effortsWhat you’ll bring to the role:8+ Yrs. years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in financial servicesStrong hands-on Java development experience in enterprise applicationsFamiliarity with GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted development toolsProficiency with multi-threading and concurrent programmingExperience with stream-based data processing architecturesExperience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesDeep understanding of OLTP and OLAP systems and their appropriate applicationsExperience implementing observability solutions (logging, metrics, tracing)Track record of solving complex technical problems in high-stakes environmentsAt least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.Preferred QualificationsInvestment banking or capital markets domain experience, particularly in collateral managementExpertise in caching technologies like Redis/HazelcastHands-on experience with Snowflake for data warehousing and analyticsKnowledge of Apache Spark for big-data processingExperience leading technical teams or technical project deliveryKnowledge of regulatory requirements affecting collateral managementWHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY:At Morgan Stanley, we raise, manage and allocate capital for our clients – helping them reach their goals.
