- Responsible for maintaining current logbooks on all operations such as vessel movements, helicopter, and boat arrivals and departures, deck activities, incidents, and accidents
- Responsible for maintaining the bridge in an orderly and professional manner
- Responsible for updating navigational publications and charts when appointed in name by the Master
- Responsible for the preparation of manifests for helicopters and supply vessels
- Assist in planned maintenance of safety equipment, deck equipment, and miscellaneous navigational equipment
- Perform duties in connection with the GMDSS installation
- Carry out duties and responsibilities as laid down in the Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan (SOPEP)
- Oversee deck operations and crane operations with reference to overall vessel operational requirements
- To be familiar with all Company procedures, including the Safety Management System, applicable to his duties
- Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with the established safety standards and work practices
- Taking part in emergency and occupational onboard training such as the use of self-contained breathing apparatus, firefighting, man overboard exercises, lifeboat launching, security drills, and/or other training as applicable for the function
- Wearing, inspecting, and caring for required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Following master's Standing Orders as issued
- Responsible for reporting to the Master in a timely fashion, any situation representing a risk to the vessel or its operations. This includes but is not limited to, DP station keeping, anchorage position, weather events, HSE incidents, equipment failure, etc.
- Navigational Mate Certificate of Competency attained through experience (accrued sea time) and formal education resulting in a Bachelor of Nautical Sciences (or equivalent) issued by an approved and recognized institution
- 360 Days Sea Time documented as OICNW of which 180 days must be as OICNW on vessels engaged in offshore construction operations. This requirement may be waived by the Manager of Global Marine
- Nautical Institute DP Operator's Certificate (for DP Vessels only)
- STCW95 Reg.

- VI/I Basic Training
- VI/6 - Security Training for Seafarers with Security Duties
- Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness
- II/1 - Generic and Type-Specific ECDIS training (for vessels with ECDIS)
