Job PurposeAssist the HOD, Chief Intensivist, Consultant in delivery of clinical care in conformance with Sir HN RFH standards of medical and service excellence across the assigned ICU units.Attached to Sir HN RFH on a full time basis. No external attachments will be permitted.2. AccountabilitiesKey Responsibilities: ServiceWork under the supervision of Consultant / HOD as per assigned privilegesTreat patients in Critical Care - admit, investigate and perform treatment procedures (if applicable) as per the approved clinical privilegesProvide day to day inpatient management of all patients within the ICU during the assigned rotations. This requires a detailed round, clinical examination, review of documentation, tracing pending reports, troubleshooting, receiving the new admissions, writing discharge notes, ensure proper handover, and keep the Primary team updated at all times.Collate and analyze records, reports, test results and physical examination information to diagnose disease of the patientPrescribe or administer medication, therapy, and other specialized comprehensive medical care to treat / prevent / limit illness, disease, or injury, identify patients risk status and recommend appropriate intervention to minimize risk as in consultation with the treating consultantProvide feedback to the concerned consultant on the action planCollaborate with other disciplines and health professionals to develop effective and appropriate multidisciplinary treatment plans for patientsExplain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patient and family.Monitor patients' condition and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary and discuss the same with the treating Consultant. Refer patient to other specialist as and when required after due intimation and explanation to patient / family as advised by the treating consultant.Accompany all consultants during rounds. Present the case to consultant and discuss the care plan and facilitate implementation.Update and maintain documentation in Hospital Information System with respect to assigned clinical responsibilities including patient history, clinical assessment, prescriptions, medications, progress notes, investigations, discharge notes and any other medical recordsEnsure appropriate documentation as per accreditation requirements (progress notes, handovers, medication update)Ensure appropriate communication with family in emergency situations as per prescribed format.(AIDET, BLAST etc).Attend to on call emergency care in case of need.Follow use of evidence based practiceAttend to on call emergency care in case of need.Ensure accurate exchange of information during care transition and transfer of patients ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality is duly protected at all the timesParticipate and be part of Medical Emergency Team (MET)Ensure timely discharges to keep Average LOS under standard Hospital normsParticipate in interdepartmental meetings, committees and perform all the responsibilities as assignedParticipate as per the defined role during any internal / external disasterComply with CME credits as per MMC guidelines and registrations in vogueAny other responsibility as assigned by the organization on a need basisKey Responsibilities: GrowthPlan, and participate in health programs of the hospital, outreach activities, or communities for prevention and treatment of injuries or illnesses.Key Responsibilities: QualityEnsure infection control and other quality indicators are within the defined bench markActively participate and be accountable for implementation of all quality programs to ensure continuous quality improvement in the departmentEnsure adherence to internationally accepted standards of care, including but not limited to those recommended by JCI, NABH and other quality systemsActively participate in infection control and prevention activities, campaigns, awareness sessions etc.Key Responsibilities: FinanceEnsure optimal utilization of available resourcesKey Responsibilities: PeopleBe available to cover colleague when they are sick / on leave (within the constraints of existing workload)Promote knowledge sharing and training on functional and technical skills of the team membersTrain the new joinees on the departmental policies, SOPs and protocolsGuide the junior medical staff and DNB students on the departmental activities and processesKey Responsibilities: Innovation and ResearchPlan and participate in clinical education, research, test medication, clinical tests to advance the practice of medicine as well as academic and teaching activities as required by the DNB, IDCCM, ISCCM and any other Fellowship programsKeep updating knowledge and skills by attending and presenting at conferences and CME or similar training programs and keep abreast with the latest for advancing the departmentActively give suggestions / feedback to further improvise services of department and growth of the department3. Experience & Educational RequirementsEDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:Include Additional Certification Required if anyNecessary:MBBS and MD / DNB / Diploma in Critical Care/Anesthesia/PulmonaryDesirable:IDCCM/FNB/ISCCMRELEVANT EXPERIENCE:Type of roles (and duration) which an individual ideally should have done in his/her prior experience to be detailedNecessary:3-5 years experience post PGDesirable:3-4years experience in Critical care in tertiary care set-up
