- Understand the link budgeting needs of the CIENA products and Planning software
- Define detailed requirements from Link Engineering perspective for Planning Software Team
- Monitoring and Tracking of Link Engineering requirements in the software.
- Validate the Optical results coming out of the Planning Tool. Creation of manual tools for validation of results.
- Support customers and field system engineers with their network designs from Link Engineering Perspective
- Understand Ciena Optical products (Modems, Optical transport lines, Control Plane, Network Management Systems) to ensure appropriate modeling in Planning Tools
- Work closely with Software developers and clarify Hardware requirements
- Working with Product Owners around the supporting of these configurations in the different workflows. Identify the gaps if there are any.
- Interact with Ciena Sales Engineer and Ciena customers to understand Planning Tools usage and requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Optical Communications /Optoelectronics with 3+ years of experience working with DWDM Platforms.
- Excellent and In-Depth knowledge of Optical Technologies and Architectures
- Familiar with simulation tools to compute OSNR Margin, Power Propagation
- Good knowledge to Linear and Non-Linear effects impacting Optical networks
- Good Communication skills with strong analytical ability
- Excellent team worker with strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of writing scripts in MATLAB, TCL, MS Excel etc would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of different software technologies and architectures will be an asset
