The Component Design Engineer shall create engineering solutions that satisfy functional and physical requirements symptomatic of Product System and Sub-System level environments. Crucially, the engineered solutions must exhibit robustness for manufacturing capability.
The Component Design Engineer is responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of component design definition artefacts, i.e. documents, models, definitions that meet system level and sub-system requirements. The Component Design Engineer will participate within an IPT described by Product Lifecycle System (PLS) and operate in accordance with applicable Rolls-Royce Management System (RRMS) policies and processes.
The Component Design Engineer is responsible for sub-system integration of the technical activities for their design solutions and enabling lifecycle profitability through the Supply Chain Design.Key Accountabilities:
- Develop technically challenging solutions based on standard designs that provide an attractive solution for both the customer and Rolls-Royce.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Able to provide cost effective solutions.
- Consider requirements from customer, design, test, production and regulatory requirements.
- Deal with manufacturers taking into account the Rolls-Royce Power Systems policies.
- Ability to interact with cross functional teams.
- Provide technical documentation as required for manufacturing, assembly, test and trouble shooting in all the Power System aspects of Rolls-Royce Power Systems products.
- Provide technical training and support to the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a reputed college / University.
- Should Have working experience of about 5-7 Year’s.
- Experience in Coolers design considering emission and durability. (for example: Charge Air Cooler, EGR, Oil cooler, Diesel fuel, Gas, Sea water Cooler).
- Able to create specifications of Coolers and Pumps based on the Engine requirements.
- Experience in Coolant pumps design Considering Engine requirements and performance.
- Expertise in PTC Creo (modelling/assembly and detailing) and PTC Windchill.
- Experience in Casted, Welded, brazed part design.
- Knowledge of DVPs and Testing.
- Able to interpret the results from CFD and FEA. Provide solutions to design improvements.
- Understanding of GD&T standards as per ISO GPS system.
- Strong experience in Drawings creation related to Coolers.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Skill to initiate ideas to resolve issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
- Ability to deal with local and global manufacturers in a professional way.
- Able to work effectively within global team environments.
- Work with due regard to all company policies including those of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.
- Conduct the job in a manner that is in the best interest of Rolls-Royce Power Systems and MTU.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal in English) and interpersonal skills are a must.
