Senior Manager - EHS

• Implement various EHS awareness related initiatives designed by the Corporate team at the plant
• Lead and drive initiatives to inculcate a safety culture at the plant
• Conduct periodic training to orient employees to the safety standards and norms to be followed at the plant including demonstration of use of safety equipment to reinforce awareness
• Ensure all new employees are provided proper orientation on health and safety norms and standards at the Plant
• Conduct safety mock drills to assess preparedness of all departments in terms of safety
• Undertake periodic surveys at the plant to assess the level of Health and Safety related awareness of the employees
• Undertake periodic feedback from employees on how to improve health and safety conditions at the plant

• Take regular rounds of the plant premises to inspect the safety and hygiene maintained in different areas to check adherence to norms and standards
• Make note of any unsafe or unhygienic work conditions observed in any area of the plant premises - take photographs, document the gaps and send to concerned in charge for corrective action
• Investigate all accidents / incidents promptly and recommend appropriate remedial measures and controls to prevent them in future
• Respond to emergency situations and recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes and materials
• Report all incidents to Plant Management and EHS Head in a timely manner
• Recommend to the EHS Head and Plant management the suspension of activities that pose threats to worker's health and safety

• Ensure medical staff, first-aid facilities, emergency procedures, safety signs, protective clothing and equipment are available at the Plant
• Advise the Procurement team for procurement of good quality PPE
• Ensure the PPE available is maintained in good condition at all times and ensure proper guidelines are provided to employees on the correct usage of the PPE
• Support in procurement of necessary EHS equipment and material by identifying vendors as per the necessary specification and needs of the organization

• Be a coordinator on various Health and Safety meetings at the plant such as Safety Committee etc.
• Note the minutes of these meetings, circulate to all departmental heads and follow up on actionable identified
• Monitor the function of the STP at the plant in coordination with the Utility team, routinely checking the register maintained and being present during government sampling process
• Ensure that all necessary clearances and licenses are renewed in a timely manner for STP operations
• Advise on safety related aspects in case of major capex projects, new machinery set up, etc.
• Conduct induction and other Safety related training for the management staff and workmen at the locations

• Ensure all legal provisions and requirements related to environment for a plant are duly complied with
• Implement various initiatives towards energy management, ventilation / temperature / noise management and hazardous waste management process at the Plant in line with initiatives identified by Corporate office
• Support the EHS Head in undertaking initiatives like rain water harvesting, water recycling, and solar energy harvesting at the plant to contribute to environment and also reduce costs for the organization
• Lead the EHS team at the plant in taking initiatives for raising awareness towards environmental issues, and periodically communicate with the employees on the same

• Liaison with local statutory bodies and government authorities on issues related to Environment and Safety relevant to the plant
• Ensure all required licenses as per statutory and legal provisions related to EHS are regularly renewed and up to date
• Ensure all legal documentation and reports related to EHS compliances for the plant are maintained in good condition and up to date
• Prepare all MIS reports and other reports such as incident investigation reports, survey and feedback reports etc. for the plant
• Ensure timely submission of all monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to EHS for the plant
• Ensure all preparation, documentation and compliances required for the ISO and OSHAS certification are kept in order for the plant
• Facilitate the EHS audits at the plant by providing all required information and data in a timely manner
• Implement any corrective actions on EHS recommended in the audit findings for the plant.

• Manage performance of the team and conduct of timely appraisals and feedback
• Ensure overall morale of the team is high
• Ensure EHS staff (including contract employees) are adequately trained, equipped and motivated so that all EHS operations can be completed in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner
• Regularly conduct training sessions for the team, shop floor operators and supervisors on correct methods of operations and usage of machine and safety equipment
