Experience Required: 12-14 YearsIndustry: Power & Energy (Transmission & Distribution)Function: Project Engineering -Detailed DesignsRoles & Responsibilities:- Lead design and engineering of distribution lines (415 V to 33 kV) and transmission lines (66 kV to 765 kV).- Perform load flow, short circuit, fault, and stability analysis using power system software such as ETAP, CYME, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, or PSS/E.- Review and verify distribution line surveys and transmission line route surveys for accuracy and feasibility.- Prepare single line diagrams, technical drawings, and electrical schematics using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD software.- Design and draft poles of various types: single pole, double pole, three-pole, four-pole, five-pole, and six-pole structures considering mechanical and environmental loads.- Specify materials and structural design parameters for poles (steel, concrete, wood) with attention to wind load, weight, and safety factors.- Develop complete transmission line designs including conductor sag and tension calculations, clearance requirements, tower/pole configuration, and grounding systems.- Specify and select conductors, insulators, transformers, circuit breakers, surge arresters, and protection devices suitable for each voltage level.- Design protection schemes and coordinate relay settings to ensure system reliability and safety using software like SEL-REL, Omicron, or equivalent.- Conduct technical feasibility studies, system impact assessments, and environmental compliance reviews.- Ensure all designs comply with national and international electrical codes, standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI), and structural design norms.- Collaborate with civil, structural, and construction teams to integrate electrical designs with site conditions and infrastructure requirements.- Provide technical support during project execution, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.- Lead detailed design reviews, resolve technical queries, and approve all engineering deliverables and documentation.- Monitor project progress, manage timelines, and maintain comprehensive design and engineering records.- Manage and mentor multi-disciplinary engineering teams for efficient project delivery.- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors on technical specifications, procurement, and quality assurance.- Incorporate and enforce safety standards and best practices in all design and project activities.- Prepare and present detailed technical reports, design documents, and project updates to stakeholders and management.
