Job Description:Short DescriptionWe are looking for a User Assistance (UA) developer to help build a portfolio of assets for the Oracle Database - Data Integration products.Oracle Data Integration products include the following:
  • Oracle GoldenGate
  • Oracle Stream Analytics
  • Oracle Data Integrator
  • Enterprise Data Quality
You will analyze learning requirements for the product and produce content in one of these formats: documentation, videos, tutorials, workshops, etc.You are expected to have, or quickly attain, subject matter expertise on data integration (E-LT/ETL), data replication, data governance, and high availability concepts. You will translate your product / solution knowledge into effective UA assets that will enable customers / partners / employees to quickly and effectively deploy / use Oracle's Data Integration products.This position requires solid technical aptitude, excellent writing skills, and the ability to complete projects with minimal supervision. Proven ability to develop new material and organize it logically is critical. Previous experience developing user assistance for Data Integration products / applications is highly desirable. Technical expertise in Oracle Data Integration On-Premise/Cloud services or competitive products is highly desirable. The role involves researching new product features and new technology in a fast-paced development environment. Flexibility, good spirits, and a strong DITA background are essential.We provide the opportunity for continuous learning and the acquiring of new skills. Our writers focus not only on writing excellent content, but also on the technical aspects of publishing the assets to our customers.Career Level - IC4Responsibilities:Detailed Description and Job RequirementsAs a Principal UA Developer, you will:
  • Create a variety of UA assets for your assigned product, which may include training courses, certification exams, documentation, tutorials, videos, embedded help in UI, sample code, eBooks, and infographics following UA development processes, templates, and standards using various tools and systems.
  • Perform job task analysis and create UA design documents that identify common user tasks that can be addressed through UA.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop UA vision documents that will include the product use cases, common tasks, and user personas.
  • Recognize problems with tools and processes, recommend enhancements for UA for group, team, and department, and share with management.
  • Work closely with SMEs to design and develop solution-based content to resolve relevant real world scenarios
  • Respond to queries on help forums or mailing lists, and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned products.
  • Participate in internal tasks forces related to UA and other technical matters. Participate in discussions at UA and feature team meetings.
  • Ensure best practices for usability of UA by involving SMEs and customers in user needs analysis.
  • Develop and review certification exam items.
Desired Skills and ExperienceJob RequirementsDuties and tasks are varied and complex requiring independent judgment. Expected to be fully competent in own area of expertise. Possess a degree, certificate, or relevant industry experience. Suggested majors include English, technical writing, communications, instructional design, software engineering, or computer science.Certification on WebLogic Server, or Java, or Security area is an additional plus. Minimum of 5+ years of UA development or relevant experience.Follow a prescribed learning plan to gain a thorough understanding of the product's technical details and functionality. Demonstrate functional knowledge of Windows and Linux or UNIX.Demonstrate overall understanding of IT environment for on premises and cloud deployments. At least 5 years of experience of working on data integration products or data integration cloud services.Candidates must submit writing samples that demonstrate:
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to research, design, and write in a variety of formats, as well as to maintain and improve existing material.
  • Ability to write in a more relaxed, conversational style, such as that used in popular social media products.
  • Ability to write UA with a strong task orientation.
Additional DetailsIn summary, this position requires the following:
  • Strong knowledge and professional experience using or administering any data integration product or cloud service is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience with non-Oracle Security products may be considered.
  • Experience with installing and configuring software independently is strongly required.
  • Knowledge of Java, XML, and Linux technology is highly desirable.
  • Working experience on Linux operating system is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge / experience with Oracle Database Administration is desirable.
  • Experience with DITA Editor is required.
  • Experience with developing videos, and tutorials is required.
  • Experience authoring documentation in a content management system is highly desirable.
  • A strong, positive work ethic as demonstrated by initiative, adaptability, independence, and the desire to do what is required to produce a quality product.
  • Ability to follow style guidelines, a writing model, and department processes for writing and publishing UA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for global audience.
  • Strong inter-personnel communication skills to be able to make great business relationships with people from various LoBs.
  • Strong ability to illustrate complex concepts graphically. The writing and graphics should enhance the learning experience.
  • Demonstrate a keen sense of organization and attention to detail.
  • Handle unforeseen difficulties and obstacles with ease.
  • An excellent team player and able to work on complex projects with a group of other UA developers.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines and on multiple projects at a short notice.
  • Ability to work with people in different time zones.
  • Ability to understand business needs and meet deadlines.
