Join us as we work to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our Production Network & Telecom Engineering team within the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering Team. CIE ensures the continuous availability of the technologies and systems that are the foundation of athenahealth’s services. The Network Engineer role will serve on the Network Engineering team whose mission encompasses the design, installation, monitoring and technical support of network elements and related infrastructure to meet the business needs.You are an engineer with the expertise to install, troubleshoot, and monitor our production networks with prior experience working with WAN and data center networking technologies. While the focus of this role will be network operations, you can drive and delivery long term projects alongside day to day tasks. And finally, you have experience with traditional network infrastructure design paradigms but also are excited to learn about the next generation of automation and infrastructure as code!Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)
  • Install, configure, test, upgrade, and maintain network (LAN, WAN, WLAN) and security equipment in a multi-vendor environment (Juniper, Aruba,
  • Palo Alto, Dell SONiC, NSX, VeloCloud, etc.)
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation
  • Track, report, and proactively address network capacity issues based on business forecasts
  • Work with third-party partners to provision site-to-site IPSEC VPNs
  • Configure and utilize a variety of network management tools
  • Follow IT change control best practices for predictable results
  • Monitor the network ticket queue and update and escalate tickets in accordance to Service Level Agreement requirements
  • Work directly with LECs and IXCs to provision and troubleshoot WAN connectivity
  • Work directly with Voice team to ensure VoIP services meet or exceed all quality targets
  • Work with support staff as an escalation point for all potential network issues
  • Flexible to travel between Chennai / BLR / Pune during major incidents / implementations to support from on-site.
Education & Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5-8 years of relevant professional working experience
  • Previous experience in a production, 24x7 environment.
  • Experience with multiple network vendors (Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto, Dell SONiC, VeloCloud, etc.)
  • Fundamental understanding of TCP/IP and associated routing and switchingprotocols.
  • Exposure to firewall and VPN technology (Palo Alto experience is preferred)
  • Familiarity with 802.11 technologies (Aruba experience is preferred)
  • Familiarity and experience with public and private cloud environments.
  • Working knowledge of the Linux operating systems, ability to troubleshoot Linux network stack.
  • Familiarity with structured cabling best practices and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Good planning/organization capability and ability to make decisions quickly
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently.
  • Proven ability to multitask, effective time-management & project management.
  • Bonus: operating knowledge of Ansible, Git, Python, EVPN/VXLAN
Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability and desire to learn independently as well as in a team;
  • Ability to manage time well and meet multiple deadlines in a sometimes hectic environment;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
