- Cost Estimation and Analysis: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment based on project plans, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
- Tendering and Procurement: Assist in the preparation of tender documents, evaluate bids from contractors and subcontractors, and participate in contract negotiations.
- Bill of Quantities (BOQ): Prepare, review, and manage BOQs, ensuring accuracy and completeness in line with project requirements and drawings.
- Cost Control and Monitoring: Continuously monitor project costs against budgets, identify potential cost overruns or savings, and implement corrective actions.
- Valuation of Work and Payments: Assess the value of work completed by contractors and subcontractors, prepare interim and final valuations, and ensure timely and accurate payments.
- Contract Administration: Assist in the administration of construction contracts, including the management of variations, claims, and contractual disputes.
- Planning and Billing Management: Contribute to project planning and scheduling, and manage the billing processes to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
- Infrastructure Costing: Apply your knowledge of infrastructure projects to accurately estimate and manage costs associated with civil engineering works.
- Quantity Surveying: Utilize your expertise in quantity surveying principles and practices to provide comprehensive cost management services throughout the project lifecycle.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise and collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery and cost efficiency.
- Risk Management: Identify potential financial risks within projects and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular cost reports, progress updates, and financial statements for project stakeholders.
- Compliance: Ensure that all project-related financial processes and documentation comply with relevant regulations and standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 to 6 years of progressive experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably on infrastructure and building projects.
- Proven experience in cost estimation, tendering, contract administration, and cost control.
- Strong understanding of Bills of Quantities (BOQ) preparation and management.
- Familiarity with standard methods of measurement (e.g., IS codes).
- Proficiency in cost management software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team1 in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of relevant building regulations, contract laws, and health and safety standards.
- Willingness to travel to project locations as required.
- Experience with specific cost management software (e.g., CostX, RIB).
- Professional membership or certification in quantity surveying or construction management.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its application in cost management.
