JOB TITLE : Safety ManagerYEARS OF EXP. : 6 to 8 yearsQUALIFICATION : BE EEELOCATION : ChennaiCTC / Gross : 8 to 10 LPAAGE / GENDER : MaleJOB DESCRIPTION * Safety Program Development & Implementation:o Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures to ensure
compliance with local, national, and international safety standards and regulations.
o Create and enforce safety protocols specific to solar plant construction and operational activities,
including risk assessments and safety audits.
o Review and update safety programs regularly to reflect changes in regulations, industry
standards, and best practices.2. Site Safety Management:
o Conduct regular safety inspections of the solar plant site to identify potential hazards and ensure
that safety protocols are being followed.
o Ensure that all workers are wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and always
adhering to safety standards.
o Monitor the effectiveness of safety measures in the field, particularly during construction,
installation, and maintenance phases.3. Safety Training & Awareness:
o Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees and contractors, ensuring all workers
understand the hazards associated with solar plant operations.
o Conduct onboarding sessions for new hires and provide refresher courses for ongoing
employees.
o Promote a safety-first culture by engaging employees in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and other
safety initiatives.4. Incident Investigation & Reporting:
o Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, or safety incidents to determine root causes and
recommend corrective actions.
o Ensure that all incidents are properly documented and reported in compliance with regulatory
and company requirements.o Prepare and submit detailed reports on accidents, injuries, and near-misses to senior
management, regulatory bodies, and insurance companies.5. Risk Management:
o Identify and assess potential safety hazards in the workplace and develop mitigation strategies
to reduce risks.
o Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify areas for improvement.
o Ensure emergency response plans are in place and conduct regular drills (e.g., fire, electrical
hazards, and first aid training).6. Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure the solar plant complies with all relevant health, safety, and environmental laws and
regulations.
o Maintain knowledge of safety-related regulations and industry standards, ensuring the plant
stays up to date on changes to applicable laws.
o Liaise with regulatory agencies and authorities to ensure compliance during inspections or
audits.7. Safety Documentation & Recordkeeping:
o Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, training sessions, and incident reports.
o Ensure that all documentation is up to date and stored in accordance with regulatory
requirements and company policies.8. Safety Culture Promotion:
o Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the solar plant, encouraging
employees to take responsibility for their own safety and that of their coworkers.
o Promote safety awareness programs, such as safety incentives, posters, and communication
campaigns.
o Coordinate with plant leadership to integrate safety goals into the overall performance metrics
of the project.9. Emergency Preparedness & Response:
o Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response plans for a variety of scenarios (e.g., fire,
electrical accidents, natural disasters).
o Organize regular emergency drills (e.g., evacuation procedures, first aid, and fire drills) to ensure
staff are familiar with emergency procedures.10. Continuous Improvement:
o Review accident reports, safety trends, and best practices to propose improvements to safety
protocols.
o Work with the management team to set safety performance targets and implement actions to
meet these goals.
o Analyse and assess the effectiveness of safety training and programs, making necessary
improvements based on feedback.Experience:
 Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, ideally in the electrical construction or energy
sector.
 Previous experience in solar power plant operations, or related renewable energy industries is preferred.
 Proven track record of implementing and managing HSE programs, including conducting safety audits
and investigations.Skills and Competencies:
 Safety Expertise: In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and environmental
guidelines related to construction and energy industries.
 Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability to lead safety initiatives and communicate effectively with
employees, contractors, and senior management.
 Risk Management: Strong skills in hazard identification, risk assessment, and the development of safety
mitigation plans.
 Training & Development: Experience in designing and delivering safety training programs for diverse
workforces.
 Incident Investigation: Proficient in investigating safety incidents and accidents, with strong analytical
skills to determine root causes and solutions.
 Regulatory Knowledge: Up-to-date understanding of industry standards, regulations, and environmental
laws related to safety management in renewable energy projects.
 Problem-Solving: Ability to identify problems quickly and develop practical solutions to ensure the safety
and well-being of all personnel.
 Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in conducting inspections, audits, and documentation.
 Proactive & Organized: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple safety initiatives
simultaneously.Required Certification: NABCEP or OSHA (10/30) – Must have at least one of the qualification.
