- Lead and oversee the ELV (End of Life Vehicle) and Sustainability Compliance function, managing and mentoring a diverse team of engineers and technical specialists to deliver high-quality outcomes aligned with corporate sustainability goals.
- Develop, execute, and continuously refine sustainability frameworks that incorporate lifecycle analysis, recyclability, resource efficiency, and eco-design principles, ensuring these frameworks are integrated into all stages of product development and manufacturing.
- Maintain compliance with global environmental regulations such as ELV, RoHS, REACH, and other relevant directives, ensuring readiness for both domestic markets and international exports through robust compliance monitoring and reporting.
- Manage comprehensive IMDS (International Material Data System) submissions and supplier data declarations, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and completeness of material compliance data; coordinate and lead internal and external audits to uphold data integrity.
- Establish, document, and enforce internal standards, guidelines, and procedures for ELV and hazardous material compliance across vehicle programs and extended supplier networks, fostering a consistent compliance culture.
- Collaborate closely with homologation departments, platform teams, material scientists, and suppliers to align compliance strategies, expedite issue resolution, and support product certification processes.
- Design and execute comprehensive training programs for internal teams and suppliers to enhance understanding of IMDS, compliance tools, and sustainable practices, thereby building organizational competence and fostering proactive compliance behaviours.
- Monitor evolving global regulatory landscapes and provide timely, actionable updates and risk assessments concerning export vehicle compliance, enabling the company to remain agile and compliant with changing legal requirements.
- Leverage advanced expertise in automotive materials regulations to advise on optimal material selection, ensure conformity with environmental standards, and support initiatives aimed at sustainable product innovation.
- Champion initiatives that advance material circularity, sustainable sourcing, and manufacturing process optimizations designed to minimise environmental impact while supporting business objectives.
- Demonstrated mastery in utilizing IMDS and IDIS platforms for precise material declarations, compliance tracking, and reporting across complex supply chains.
- In-depth knowledge of ELV regulations, including proficiency in calculating recycling, recovery, and reuse (RRR) rates, hazardous substance identification, and understanding recyclability norms as part of automotive product lifecycles.
- Extensive experience with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies, carbon footprint quantification, and the application of circular economy principles to drive sustainable development.
- Strong familiarity with diverse material grades, their chemical and physical compositions, and relevant sustainability metrics that influence product design and regulatory adherence.
- Basic programming skills or algorithmic competency aimed at automating data analysis, compliance tracking, and generating actionable insights to improve efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech) or a Master's degree (M.Tech) in disciplines including Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Environmental Science is essential.
- Advanced certifications or training in environmental compliance, sustainability standards, or automotive materials technology will be considered advantageous.
- Demonstrable commitment to ongoing professional development in emerging sustainability practices and regulatory requirements is highly desirable.
- Highly effective communication skills to clearly convey complex technical and regulatory concepts to diverse stakeholders including technical teams, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and senior management.
