- Equipment maintenance planning & co-ordination
- Plans and supervises the installation and yearly preventive maintenance/calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs.
- Inventory management.
- Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt.
- Implement effective inventory control measures and maintain accurate records of stock levels.
- Regularly monitor inventory levels and anticipate potential shortages or excesses.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to identify current and future procurement needs.
- Laboratory Operations
- Implements the 5S process to maintain lab organization and cleanliness, assures that laboratory rules for maintenance, environmental compliance, quality and regulatory are followed.
- Provides glassware by ordering, receiving and inventorying glassware. Supports laboratory staff by maintaining glassware, logs, and record books, troubleshooting and resolving problems and helping with special projects.
- Will organize shipments and logistics for projects including to global sites and coordinating with scheduled delivery for clinical trials including required clearances.
- Assists in projects as specified by supervisor, including setting running development test protocols, prepares buffers documenting results, and generating reports.
- Documentation
- Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
- Maintains sample logs. May determine specimen blood counts on appropriate instrument (Hematology analyzer)
- General
- Excellent organization skills and time management skills to be able to efficiently evaluate, prioritize and handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with colleagues and various functions throughout the organization.
- Ability to work collaboratively fostering professional, constructive relationships as part of a team while also working independently to produce data and meet challenging timelines and goals.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (cell biology, immunology, biochemistry etc.) or Medical laboratory technologist or diploma related to Lab management.
- Proven experience of 1-2 years in inventory management and purchasing, preferably in a laboratory or scientific setting.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory supplies, equipment, and consumables.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
