Staff Nurse

• Complete accountability for assessment of patients, planning nursing care, nursing interventions, implementing the nursing plans, monitoring the patients in accordance with the treating doctor/on duty doctor
• Reception and orientation of newly admitted patients. Self introduction to the patient/relative once you are assigned to the particular patient
• Identify vulnerable patients and provide them care accordingly
• Reassessment of the patients as per the clinical condition of the patient.
• To maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, clinicians, other departments and co workers. Total care of the assigned patients. This includes the clinical care, physiological care, psychological care, nutritional care, hygienic care (bathing, care of mouth, back nails, hair) etc.
• Compliance to nursing manuals /protocols at all circumstance while on duty
• Follow infection control practices during nursing procedures. Infection control practices includes hand hygiene, bio medical waste segregation, aseptic techniques etc
• To educate patients/relatives and their care as and when required.
• To complete patient documentation correctly. Maintain nursing records including, nursing assessment, nursing reassessment notes etc and data for all assigned patients as per protocol.
• Complete hand over /take over of the assign patients including physically checking the patients and units.
• To maintain a safe environment for patients
• To ensure patient confidentiality.
• To educate patient on necessary physio exercise and monitor/assist during mobilization and physiotherapy.
• Complete special assignments like checking of crash cart, checking inventory or any other assignment given by in charges.
• Collect and send all relevant documents duly completed to transfer or discharge process will accompany critical and helpless patients.
• Correct identification of the patients before all the procedures, transfers, medication administration, blood transfusions etc
• Check 6 Rights before medication administration, safe Injections & infusions
• Do the last office in death cases. Know about the end of life care and provide respect/dignity to the patient and relatives
• Attends all in service educations programmes/training sessions as per Nurse In charge/Nursing Heads order.
• Take responsibilities and accountabilities in professional advancement.
• Maintain safety of ward and nursing equipment [inventory]
• Assist the in charge for the ward management.
• Accompany all the assigned patients during interdepartmental transfers, from the department/wards for investigations, from ward to Operation Theatres and vice versa.
• Proper hand over to staff of next shift or to other departments
• To co-ordinate the patients discharge arrangements in accordance with sterling Discharge Policy.
• Assist physicians/surgeons in clinical procedures.
• Counseling the patients and relatives.
• Checking, documenting and reporting of all procedures and tests , vital signs ,pain etc
• Collecting, correct labeling and dispatch of specimens.
• Ensure Safety and security for the patient in the Hospital.
• Demonstration and guidance to new staff
• Ensure safe custody of patient files and investigation reports, etc.
• Ensure payments of bills in full before discharge of patient from the ward.
• Send samples of investigation and collection of reports through the computer system.
• All orders, admission/discharge/death/bills/diet/transfer etc. through computer system.
• Maintain strict discipline in Hospital Premises
• And any other duties assigned by the Superiors
• Staff Nurse will be on shift duty but will be available if required, even after end of the Shift.
