This position is responsible for preparing state and local regulatory business license filings by working with various financial systems to analyze data while adhering to regulatory compliance laws, local business licenses ordinances/regulations, and other related projects and tasks.ResponsibilitiesPrepare business license filings to maintain compliance with the various local license authorities and other Regulatory Agencies via an outsourcer timely and accurately in accordance with applicable laws and regulations for all Verizon owned companiesPrepare payments, manage liabilities and expenses related to the filings; work with AP, Treasury and various in-house payment systemsAssist with analysis related to mergers and acquisitions (including due diligence), Reconciliations, Budgets, Metrics, Cash Forecasting and other monthly reportsEnsuring adherence to all SOX controlsAssist with all Regulatory related audits, billing inquiries, and resolve noticesConduct research as needed to comply with legislative changes and implement best compliance practicesFocus on identifying process improvements and streamline/automate existing proceduresYou'll need to have:Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or four or more years of work experience.Three or more years of relevant work experience.State and local tax compliance experience.Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access.Even better if you have one or more of the following:3-5 years experience in Tax, Finance or equivalent; Regulatory experience is a plusAdvanced computer skills are required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Experience with tax research, tax accounting, SOX processes, telecommunication taxes, and tax saving strategies is preferredThe ability to prioritize deliverables with competing timelines is requiredCandidate must accurately manage deadlinesMust have solid oral, written, and analytical skillsShould possess the ability to work well independently and in a teamProficient with large volume data analysis needed for the preparation and filing of tax returns (i.e.: knowledge of billing systems, etc.)Previous exposure to SAP (or other major General Ledger Suite Software) is a plusWorking knowledge of automation tools (i.e. Alteryx, Qlik) and technical skills are a plusSpecial projects assistanceWhere you'll be working In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager.
