Role Description:The role Data Security Engineer will be part of the IT Security Services Delivery (ITSSD) team, focused on defendingMunich Re companies through improved data security and access controls for unstructured data. The successful candidateis a professional with a background in IT security, data security or risk management operations in a large global businessenvironment facing numerous international regulatory requirements. The candidate s knowledge of server, NAS, andSharePoint file system access security theory provides leadership and confidence to colleagues and businesses within theMunich Re Group globally.To ensure the successful delivery of unstructured data management security services, you will collaborate closely withinternal stakeholders, including data owners and asset owners. Leveraging your experience working with both technicaland non-technical colleagues, you will provide proactive solutions and guidance to business units on effective methodsand practices for safeguarding the organization s unstructured data assets against unauthorized access and misuse. Yourexpertise will also help ensure proper accountability and oversight of access privileges to these data assets.Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:The Data Security Engineer will:Be proficient in the use of Varonis DatAdvantage or Varonis SaaS and all sub-systems and services for reportconfiguration, generation and ad hoc queries, and governance of shares via Varonis DAG.Be a subject matter specialist in Unstructured Data Management access security best practices, and provide suchtechnical guidance for both technical and business customers; offer analysis and solutions for de-risking and bettersecuring unstructured data through application of effective access security controls.Establish relationships with internal customers and provide unstructured data access security consulting servicesand guidance; develop, execute, and provide access security entitlement review reports and reporting methods tointernal business customers as well as lead access security remediation efforts in line with company best practices.Adhere to measures, methods, and quality criteria which are necessary to deliver and manage the service andproducts, including steering, reporting, and escalating processes in order to ensure service delivery; performcontinuous improvement assessments for the Unstructured Data Management service and proactive implementchanges where required.Perform tasks including, but not limited to, incident support for access security analysis and remediation activities(A&R), access security detections and forensics, root cause analysis, process improvement, alerts monitoring, workwith technical administrators, developers, and security personnel to review findings; when required, act as firstescalation point of contact for P1-P2 incidents related to the service.Perform basic PowerShell scripting and automation activities where required to enable integration and ETLfunctions between systems, including RESTful interfaces, APIs, and PowerBI.Continuous prioritization and burndown of backlog items.Job DescriptionInternal (C2)Key Competencies & Skills requiredTechnical Skills:2+ years of experience with Varonis, either operationally or architecturallypreferred2+ years of experience with PowerShell scripting, with PowerBI integrationpreferredPrior experience in a global company with strong knowledge of complex ITorganizationsUnderstanding of network protocols, network architecture, enterprise ITinfrastructure components and common cyber security technologiesExperience with AWS and Azure cloud environmentsFamiliarity with encryption standards and technologiesMust have:Fluent in English communicationExcellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate andcollaborate with global teamsStrong planning, organizational and presentation skillsStrong self-starter with innate curiosity to develop and improve customer supportprocessesAbility to explain the technical issues and its solutionBehavioral Skills:Willingness to learn and quickly adapt to changing requirements.Proactive approach to identifying issues and presenting solutions and optionsPrevious Experience & QualificationsMinimum EducationalQualification:Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science / Engineering/ InformationTechnologyCertification if any: Candidate with minimum one Cyber security certificationsYears Experience & Knowledge: 5+ years of experience in Cyber security, IT Security, Data Security, or IT riskmanagement
