- Technical leadership & ownership
- Lead the validation function for a wearable program (or multiple subsystems), setting direction, priorities, and quality gates from prototype to launch.
- Mentor and guide validation engineers; review test plans, results, and defect quality to raise overall team execution standards.
- System-level product validation (end-to-end)
- Own system behavior validation across top user journeys and edge cases (boot, capture, media, connectivity, sensors, companion app flows, OTA).
- Define validation strategy, milestone-aligned test plans, entry/exit criteria, and sign-off readiness for EVT/DVT/PVT and launch.
- System Health strategy & deep-dive execution (Power / Thermal / Performance)
- Define KPIs and acceptance thresholds for battery life/drain, charging, power state transitions, thermal limits/throttling, and performance responsiveness.
- Drive thermal validation across operating ranges including safety behaviors (feature blocking, warnings, shutdowns) and ensure UX aligns with requirements.
- Lead performance investigations (boot/app launch/scenario latency), triage regressions, and coordinate fix validation with owners.
- Risk management, triage leadership, and quality signaling
- Run/lead cross-functional triage for system health and system integration issues; ensure fast isolation across HW/FW/OS/app boundaries.
- Communicate program risk clearly (severity, user impact, scope, workaround, mitigation plan) and drive closure with measurable outcomes.
- Provide high-confidence quality signals for go/no-go decisions; represent validation status in executive/stakeholder reviews.
- Process, tooling, and continuous improvement
- Build repeatable validation frameworks (regression suites, dashboards, tracking) and push for automation where it increases signal and speed.
- Establish best practices for long-run/stress testing, lab/field validation, and data-driven defect prevention.
- 6–12+ years of experience in product validation / system test / V&V / HW test engineering for consumer electronics (wearables strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated leadership experience: leading validation workstreams, mentoring engineers, or serving as validation/DQE/system test lead for a program.
- Proven track record driving complex, cross-layer issues to resolution (HW/FW/SW) with clear quality gates and launch readiness ownership.
- Strong background in system health validation: power, thermal, performance, stability/reliability for resource-constrained devices.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in hardware validation, with a focus on Thermal /Power/System Health
- Expert-level understanding of overall system behavior in embedded/wearable products: power modes, thermal constraints, performance trade-offs, stability/reliability signals
- Strong ability to define validation strategy, KPIs, and risk-based coverage; create milestone-aligned plans with entry/exit criteria.
- Demonstrated ability to lead triage, root-cause isolation, and cross-functional execution with high-quality written and verbal communication.
- Hands-on experience executing validation in lab and field environments, including power/thermal/charging and performance measurements.
- Experience leading System Health quality programs (power/thermal/perf) and driving improvements via tooling, dashboards, and regression management.
- Familiarity with wearable power/thermal architecture concepts (throttling signals, thermal safety limits, power state orchestration) and how these impact user experience.
- Experience defining and enforcing launch-blocking criteria and quality gates across multiple builds/milestones.
- Experience building semi-automated/automated validation suites and improving validation efficiency/coverage at scale.
- Lead quality and validation for cutting-edge wearable products, directly influencing safety, reliability, and user experience.
- High-visibility ownership of launch-critical decisions and cross-functional alignment across HW/FW/SW teams.
- Strong leadership growth path in system validation, system health (power/thermal/perf), and end-to-end product readiness.
