Back-End Developers in Linux Distribution Test on IBM Z are the backbone of our strategic initiatives to debug, design, code, test, and provide industry-leading solutions that make the world run today – planes and trains take off on time, bank transactions complete in the blink of an eye and the world remains safe because of the work our software developers do. At IBM, you will use the latest software development tools, techniques and approaches and work with leading minds in the industry to build solutions you can be proud of.We make sure that Linux Distributions from RedHat, SuSE and Canonical are running perfect on IBM Z and IBM LinuxOne to guarantee the best possible client experience.As software Tester for Linux on IBM Z you will be part of a team that drives technical innovation on the IBM zSystems platform. In this role, you will be critical for the market success by ensuring that the code quality drives excellent customer experience.You will be responsible for in depth testing of Linux Distributions in combination with newest IBM Z systems hardware in several combinations. You will be part of an experienced team of software developers and testers, working around creation of open source and Linux kernel code. This includes planning, maintaining and executing automated integration and regression tests (test models and test cases.) addressing the full breath of technical areas like I/O, storage, network, security, installation procedures, drivers and kernel modules.What you will do:
- Further develop the test infrastructure (tooling, CI/CD, reporting)
- Responsibility for execution of test concepts and implementation of continuous integration.
- Development of procedures in the area of test automation.
- Write clear and detailed technical specifications and documentation.
- Collaborate in a global team with focus on test automation

- 4-5 years of experience in the field of test automation in an agile environment
- Experience with Linux and Linux command line tools
- Knowledge about scripting languages like Bash
- High familiarity with Git
- Deep understanding of Linux kernel functionality and operation (e.g. memory and scheduling)
- Practical experience on how to debug Linux
- Very good command over English, both written and spoken
- Solid architectural knowledge of IBM Z Hardware and firmware.
- Understanding of virtualization concepts, especially LPAR, KVM and z/VM.
- Prior experience in collaboration with bring-up activities, infrastructure management, problem reporting and change management.
- Prior contributions to Open Source projects or current Open Source Contributor
- > 2 years of experience with Linux OS
- Experience in scripting, phyton , Shell
- Skills in IBM Z architecture (""Principles of Operations"") , Networking and storage concepts.
- Experience with Linux on IBM Z, Linux command line tools
