Inviting applications for the role of Principal Consultant, Oracle & MS SQL Server DBA!
In this role, the ideal candidate will have deep expertise in both Oracle Database, specifically version 19c, and Microsoft SQL Server. This role is crucial for ensuring the performance, integrity, security, and high availability of our diverse database systems.
Responsibilities
- Database Administration & Management (Cross-Platform):
o Perform routine maintenance activities, including backups, restores, and data recovery planning.
o Monitor database performance, diagnose bottlenecks, and conduct performance tuning to ensure optimal operation.
o Manage user accounts, security roles, and permissions to comply with corporate security policies and regulatory requirements.
o Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Shell Scripting, PowerShell, Python) for routine and administrative tasks.
- Oracle DBA Specific Responsibilities:
o Implement and manage high-availability solutions such as Oracle Data Guard and Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC).
o Utilize Oracle's backup and recovery tools, primarily RMAN (Recovery Manager), for data protection.
o Optimize performance using native Oracle tools like AWR (Automatic Workload Repository), ASH (Active Session History), and Explain Plan.
o Perform database migrations and upgrades to Oracle 19c from older versions.
- MS SQL Server Specific Responsibilities:
o Implement and manage high-availability and disaster recovery solutions like Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, and Log Shipping.
o Develop, tune, and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
o Utilize SQL Server's performance monitoring tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), and Extended Events.
o Manage and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Collaboration and Support:
o Provide expert-level troubleshooting and technical support for database-related issues.
o Document database architectures, procedures, and best practices.
o Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for mission-critical production systems.
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle Database, specifically version 19c, including administration, performance tuning, and high-availability features.
- Extensive hands-on experience with MS SQL Server, including administration, T-SQL development, and high-availability solutions.
- Expertise in backup and recovery strategies for both Oracle (RMAN) and MS SQL Server.
- Experience with various operating systems (Linux/UNIX for Oracle and Windows Server for MS SQL Server).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) for 19c and/or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Microsoft Azure) and managing databases in a cloud environment.
- Knowledge of other database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) is a plus.
