- Define instrumentation, equipment, fixturing, and test setups for static and dynamic performance testing.
- Conduct in-process test result checks, process test data, and correlate results with physical phenomena to support engineering analysis and design decisions.
- Translate engineering requirements into executable test plans and ensure timely, high-quality execution.
- Provide accurate time estimates for testing activities to support project planning.
- Lead design reviews for test plans, procedures, and results; ensure thorough documentation of outcomes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (EHS, Facilities, Compliance, Import/Export, Logistics) to enable smooth execution of test plans.
- Uphold strong standards of integrity, compliance, and safety throughout all validation activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Power Electronics, Mechatronic or Instrumentation Engineering from a reputed institute.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in design, development, and majority in testing/validation, in the railway or heavy-duty vehicle industry.
- Expertise in Instrumentation & Testing using strain gauges, accelerometers, microphones, thermocouples, load cells, and displacement sensors. Experience with dynamic and static testing of preferably in railway systems / heavy-duty vehicles.
- Skilled Data Acquisition & Processing in systems such as NI, LMS Mobile/Lab SCADAS, HBM Quantum X, and Yokogawa. Proficient in tools like LMS, FAMOS, and Catman, with experience in PSD analysis, rainflow counting, filtering, colormap generation, FFT, order tracking, waterfalls and GPS data interpretation and ability to assess the data quality checks on-the-fly.
- Knowledge in Electrical Systems & Controls of diesel-electric locomotive architecture, AC/DC drives, and electrical infrastructure. Experience in designing and validating high-to-low voltage systems, including components like cables, relays, transformers, electro-magnetic components, etc. Familiarity with NI LabVIEW and PLC/SCADA-based control systems.
- Proficiency in use of Instrumentation Tools such as oscilloscopes, function generators, power analyzers, and a wide range of sensors (temperature, flow, pressure, speed, strain gauges, voltage, current, battery systems, arc-flash measurement, modal analysis/frequency testing, vibration & acoustics, IWS, etc) and telemetry through inductive power and data transmission, RF or WIFI enabled device selections and effectively use them in lab and field conditions
- Familiarity with ISO or equivalent railway standards for lab/field test execution.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with willingness to travel (~25%) within India or global sites, and work across cross-functional teams.
- Proven initiative, resourcefulness, and leadership in technical environments.
- Experience in the design and validation of electro-mechanical systems, particularly for locomotives or off-highway vehicles.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and work independently.
