About You And This Role The Central Engineering Chennai (CEC) currently has an opening for a Lead Electrical Designer in our Engineering Solutions located in Chennai. This role is filled by Electrical Designers with an emphasis in Electrical Design and Detailed Engineering. The successful candidate will function mainly as Lead Electrical Designer on medium to Large sized projects at several facilities managed by the Chennai Engineering Center. The candidate will collaborate with designers and drafters to develop and assemble the contract package in accordance with the project schedule. As a member of a multi-discipline, capital project (or) Site Executed Project (SEP) design team, the Lead Electrical Designer is responsible for the development and detailed design of electrical systems for Chemical Process Units. The Lead Electrical Designer utilizes applicable design criteria, design tools, best practices, and established work processes to complete detailed design packages. Initially, the Lead Electrical Designer will work under the guidance of the assigned Peer/Technical Coach to develop the necessary technical competencies required to become fully equipped on the work processes, tools, design standards and best practices. The successful candidate will be expected to quickly learn and effectively apply the Dow design tools, work processes, standards, and best practices, and to teach them to the rest of the team of both Dow Employees and contract resources in CEC/across globe. Responsibilities Single Line and Three Line Drawings. Motor control schematics Substation Layout Design, transformer yard layouts. Conversant with IEC and NEC standards on spacing and clearances for electrical layout design Overhead cable tray rack design and routing. Earthing/Grounding Layouts Lighting and Lightning Protection Layouts. Hazardous Area Classification Preparation of installation details for electrical equipment, cable trays, grounding, lighting, and small power. Panel Schedules and Interconnection Diagrams. PA/Communication Layout. S3D modelling of Transformer, Switchgear, MCC, Trays, Lights, Sockets, Grounding, Control Stations, LCPs etc. including extraction from S3D model to 2D. Cable routing and scheduling. Bulk material preparation and extraction of MTO reports from S3D model. Conducting/Participation in key mile-stone model reviews. Proactive inter-disciplinary coordination, team-check, and quality compliance process Qualifications 3 Years Diploma in Electrical Engineering from an approved and reputed University/Technical Institution like Polytechnic Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from approved university is an added advantage but not mandatory. Minimum of 10 Years of design & detailed engineering experience Demonstrated knowledge and skills in project execution environment for Chemical/ Oil and Gas Industrial Projects. Tools & Software Exposure: Expert level user of Smart Plant 3D (SP3D) Very good hands-on experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Power Draft and Bluebeam software tools MS Office Packages Preferred Skills Good communication Collaborative skills both within the discipline team and with other inter-discipline team. To lead team of design designers, verifying and validating their deliverables to ensure assembling of good & Quality construction packages in addition to successfully delivering one's own responsibilities and accountabilities. Ability to plan various steps of activities and constantly look-out for improvement opportunities. Language Proficiency: English: Fluency in Oral & Written communication is pre-requisite for this role. Any other National/International Language: Preferred but not mandatory.
