Job Description: We are seeking a skilled IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) Administrator with at least 4 years of hands-on experience in managing enterprise backup and recovery environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for configuring, monitoring, and maintaining the backup infrastructure to ensure data availability and integrity across critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, and support IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) backup and recovery environments.
- Perform daily backup monitoring, troubleshooting failed jobs, and ensuring completion within SLAs.
- Manage backup policies, schedules, storage pools, and retention settings.
- Perform restores of data, systems, and applications when required.
- Maintain backup infrastructure including storage devices (tape libraries, VTL, disk storage).
- Conduct health checks and performance tuning of the TSM environment.
- Implement backup strategies for virtualized environments (VMware/Hyper-V) and databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
- Coordinate disaster recovery drills and real-time recovery operations.
- Maintain documentation related to backup architecture, procedures, and compliance.
- Work with cross-functional teams (DBAs, System Admins, Network, etc.) to support enterprise data protection goals.
- 4+ years of experience in IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) administration.
- Solid understanding of backup technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience with storage media types – tape, disk, VTL.
- Familiarity with backup for virtual environments (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of scripting (Shell, PowerShell, or Perl) for automation.
- Understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure (Windows/Linux/Unix).
- Experience in handling Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans.
