- Strategic Sourcing: Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies for raw materials and components (copper, aluminum, insulating materials, steel).
- Vendor Management & Development: Identify, evaluate, and maintain a robust, diversified vendor base (domestic & import) for critical power components.
- Techno-Commercial Negotiation: Float RFQs, conduct techno-commercial evaluations, and negotiate contracts to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and delivery timelines.
- Inventory & Production Coordination: Monitor inventory levels using Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems to align procurement with manufacturing schedules.
- Quality Compliance: Ensure all purchased materials comply with IS/IEC standards and customer specifications, coordinating with QA/QC teams for vendor audits.
- Cost Optimization: Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) and drive cost-saving initiatives (5-10% annually) through value engineering and alternate sourcing.
- Risk Mitigation: Develop contingency plans for critical shortages and manage supplier risks, including bankruptcy or quality failure.
- Document Management: Manage the end-to-end P2P (Procure-to-Pay) process, including PO creation, GRN, and invoice compliance in ERP/SAP systems.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
- Experience: 8+ years of purchasing experience in heavy electrical equipment or manufacturing environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of power line equipment materials, technical specifications, and BOM (Bill of Materials).
- Systems Proficiency: Experience with ERP/SAP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Negotiation: Proven track record of successful vendor negotiations in the power sector.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze market trends (e.g., fluctuation in copper/aluminum prices) and manage budgets.
- Leadership: Experience leading a team of buyers or procurement agents.
- Communication: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, Projects, Finance).
- Integrity: Adherence to ethical sourcing and compliance standards.
- Relevant certifications: CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management) or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management).
- Knowledge of international logistics for importing components.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
