Established in 1874, we have grown to become the world leader in mining and civil blasting with a diverse of team of more than 13,000 across the world.It's an exciting time to join us - we are shaping the future of mining through digital and automated technologies, embracing new ways of thinking, pioneering innovation and reimagining the way we work.About the roleThis role will manage the Project implementation and Commissioning work of Fixed plant-manufacturing/depot and Delivery system, reporting to the Manager- Capital Projects - Asia and will be located at Gomia, India.The incumbent, as part of the Asia Engineering & Projects team, fulfils a critical business role in the OMS business, accountable for the engineering support/implementation of Growth & Sustenance- Fixed plant-manufacturing, depot and Delivery system projects. They will also provide technical, installation & commissioning support for Electrical & Instrumentation projects in the OMS Asia business. The Specialist-Projects, supported by Lead Projects, Responsible Engineers and design resources provides a project development and implementation services for Fixed Plant, mobile surface and underground delivery systems in the Asia region.This role also requires a sound understanding of Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation of Fixed plant-manufacturing, depot & delivery systems-surface & underground operations and excellent integration with business systems and support (operational, technical, etc). It also requires the ability to coordinate external contractors in the implementation of projects. A key challenge of this role will be to apply adequate rigor to project construction to bring sufficient predictability to outcomes during the construction & handover stages.What you will be doingThe Specialist - Projects role uses knowledge, experience, and leadership effectively to support the Asia's Capital Program with the organisation's strategy, improve the delivery of project benefits, enhance collaboration with stakeholders, and manage the program life cycle. Specifically, this includes:
  • Alignment and governance of the Asia Mining Services project teams to ensure projects achieve the required business objectives.
  • Lead the planning, and implementation of projects. Monitor, document and report to key stakeholders on the progress and performance of projects within the program.
  • Strong execution focus. Proven ability to work autonomously and direct external fabricators.
  • Serve as primary point of contact and interface between the Vendor and Internal resources for all E&I work in projects.
  • Strong communication skills to support this customer facing role
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with emphasis on effective team work and personnel development.
What you will bring
  • Engineering Trade, Certificate or Diploma in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Electrical engineering candidates preferable.
  • A trade License is preferable
  • Minimum experience of:
  • 16+ years in Projects, Engineering / maintenance environment
  • Knowledge of Orica Fixed plants-mfg, depot, Delivery systems-OC, UG
  • Good knowledge of Electrical and Instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of Statutory, Legal requirements related to Mechanical, Electrical engineering guidelines.
  • 5+ years in role in cost control / capital management
  • Knowledge of Project Processes
  • Knowledge of environmental protection requirements
  • Knowledge of quality assurance principles
