- Participate in multi-state Alternative Investment firms (hedge fund, fund to funds, private equity, real estate) firms with state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
- Performing detailed review of State & Local Partnership tax returns, Withholding forms and Composite returns.
- Review state tax workpapers and validating state modification based on current tax laws.
- Review and critical analysis of allocation and apportionment and non-business income.
- Manage implementation of multistate, or local income tax related legislation impacting K-1 reporting or partner tax withholdings, PTET calculation and brief knowledge on CARES Act.
- Knowledge about recent tax developments and revised state & local tax law changes to determine potential impact on company tax profile.
- Manage own and/or other's impact on engagement economics, including controlling costs, monitoring budget to actual differences.
- Develops, mentors, and supervises Advance Analyst(s), Tax Senior(s) and Assistant Manager(s).
- Adheres to practice protocols and other internal processes consistently.
- Fair knowledge of Statutory reporting vs General Accepted Accounting Principles and Adjustments.
- As a State Tax Manager - you will be part of team accountable for a set of client engagements.
- Handling delivery of specific engagements including technical review of tax work.
- Planning and coordinating multiple deadlines, create coherent teams, and respond promptly to client/onshore team requests.
- Working with peers within its functions and across client service teams.
- Building and leveraging relationship with US engagement teams.
- Proficient with Go Systems or other tax compliance third party vendors like CCH etc.
- Ability in Microsoft Office software programs, including spreadsheet programs (i.e., Excel).
- Managing engagement workflow, engagement team resources, engagement invoicing and budgeting.
- Conduct performance reviews, serve as a mentor, and contribute to performance feedback/training.
- Maintain an educational program to continually develop technical and managerial skills for yourself and the team.
- Articulate and support the strategies of the U.S. Business Tax Compliance group.
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA firm experience
- Excel at multi-tasking and working in challenging, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to supporting recruitment activity.
- Graduate/Postgraduate in a finance, numerical or statistical background
- CPA/EA will be an added advantage (Completed or Pursuing)
- 8+ years of experience
- Good written and verbal communication skills along with Team handling and leadership skills.
- Delivering a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within timeframe.
- Experience providing services to pass-through entities and a solid knowledge of relevant state tax concepts.
- Building relationships and interacting with clients to provide excellent planning, consulting, and expertise.
- Ability to read, interpret and apply the tax legislation.
