A Senior Purchase & Import Engineer or Assistant Manager in PCB (Printed Circuit Board) manufacturing is a strategic role responsible for the end-to-end procurement of electronic components and raw materials from both domestic and international markets. This professional ensures that the manufacturing line has a steady supply of high-quality materials while optimizing costs and navigating complex international trade regulations.Key Responsibilities
  • Import & Logistics Management:
  • Oversee the entire import process, including coordinating with Customs House Agents (CHA) and freight forwarders.
  • Handle advanced license documentation and calculate customs duties for imported electronic components.
  • Track international shipments on a daily basis to ensure timely delivery and update internal stakeholders on status.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Procurement:
  • Source critical electronic components from global markets (e.g., US, UK, China).
  • Identify and qualify local substitutes for imported materials to reduce lead times and costs.
  • Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) verification process and collect/compare vendor quotes to ensure technical and commercial alignment.
  • Vendor & Relationship Management:
  • Develop and maintain a robust global supplier base, focusing on long-term partnerships and cost competitiveness.
  • Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with vendors to minimize transit times and material risks.
  • Address quality issues with vendors, determining root causes for defective goods and implementing corrective actions.
  • Technical & Operational Support:
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to suggest alternate parts and provide technical support based on datasheet analysis.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Development (NPD) by sourcing specific components for prototypes and mass production.
  • Utilize ERP systems like SAP for material ordering, purchase order management, and maintaining supplier databases.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; an MBA in Material Management is often preferred.
  • Experience: Typically 4–7 years of experience in procurement or sourcing within the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS)
