- Utilize historical sales data, market trends, point-of-sale results and customer inputs to create accurate demand forecasts.
- Develop and maintain forecasting models to predict future demand fluctuations.
- Regularly review and update forecasts based on new information and market changes.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to optimize inventory levels, minimizing stockouts and overstocking.
- Analyse lead times and adjust inventory levels accordingly to ensure timely product availability.
- Communicate demand forecasts to sales teams to inform sales strategies and target setting.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to understand promotional impacts on demand and adjust forecasts accordingly.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to demand accuracy, inventory turnover, and sales performance.
- Analyse sales data to identify trends, patterns, and potential demand risks.
- Generate reports and presentations to communicate demand insights to stakeholders.
- Identify potential disruptions to supply chains, such as economic fluctuations, seasonal demand spikes, or product discontinuation.
- Develop mitigation strategies to address potential demand risks and minimize their impact.
- Evaluate and refine demand forecasting processes to improve accuracy.
- Identify opportunities to enhance data quality and improve demand management systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, operations, and finance to align demand planning with overall business objectives.
- Communicate demand information effectively to key decision-makers to facilitate informed planning.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using historical sales data, POS data, and market trends to build demand forecasts.
- Hands-on experience with demand planning or ERP tools (e.g. SAP / Oracle / other planning systems) and strong Excel skills; exposure to BI tools is an advantage.
- Good understanding of inventory management principles, lead times, safety stock, and service levels.
- Ability to track and report KPIs such as forecast accuracy, inventory turnover, fill rate, and OTIF.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to work with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance.
