Our team designs, develops and maintains massively scaling technology solutions brought to life with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions.Job overview and responsibilitiesThe Senior Data Architect serves as the primary technical visionary for the United’s Passenger Service System (PSS), driving the strategy and structural design of our most critical data assets. We are looking for a result-oriented, meticulous and experienced data architect to join our talented team.As a data architect, your responsibility will be to develop, optimize, and oversee the conceptual and logical data systems. You also should know how to review data system requirements as we build our cloud-native solution and implement migration models. You also would need to demonstrate proven experience in data analysis, management, and excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. You would provide industry-leading thought leadership, facilitate the development of strategies across multiple disciplines/domains, consult on the design of complex enterprise initiatives and provide guidance to project teams.

Architecting and delivering highly-scalable and flexible, cost-effective enterprise solutions

Define and build overall data design and modeling across all of the organization's data systems

Data management across multiple data systems: data governance, data mastering, meta-data management, data definitions, Symantec-layer design, data taxonomies and ontologies

Strong AWS experience across various services – Compute, Databases, and Streaming Services

Work closely with the principal architects to deliver the needed architectures

Anticipate future technology requirements and communicate those to the leadership and multi-functional teams.

Understand the current state of the organization-wide architecture. Identify key business drivers and technology capabilities required to achieve optimal state.

Coordinate with collaborator teams and own the conversation to define use cases, goals, objectives, and architecture to support the business needs.

Build relationships with senior leadership. Engage and evangelize recommendations to senior leadership teams.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering
9+ years of applicable experience in business, information or technology architecture
Experience in leading technical staff or coordinating work across multiple technology teams

Technical Skills:

5+ years of experience in a data architect role including enterprise data architecture models (OLTP, OLAP, Data Lake / Lakehouse), data systems (structured and unstructured data sources), systems integration, cloud technology and strategic roadmaps
3+ years of experience with all aspects of data management: data governance, data mastering, meta-data management, data taxonomies and ontologies
5+ years of experience in designing and building applications using AWS cloud architecture & services which supports highly resilient multi-region systems. AWS cloud services include RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, S3, MSK/Solace, or similar cloud services.
2+ years of experience in working with Glue, Athena, Redshift, EMR, Lake Formation, Databricks
Solid understanding of data security and compliance requirements
Experience in common architecture frameworks such as Microservices, REST APIs management including Authentication & authorization
Experience working with various teams including PlatformOps/DevOps and Development teams. Review architectural designs with various stakeholders.
Architecture experience using various tools like Visio, Draw.io, Lucid and others to provide cloud architecture designs including resiliency structures.
Experience in building and/or integrating AI (ML/GenAI) into the solution architectures will be a plus
Able to understand and help implementation teams using object-oriented programming languages if required, i.e., Java, .Net, Python etc.
Business Acumen: The ability to make insightful, successful business decisions and tradeoffs assessing the internal and external business landscape, strategies, opportunities, strengths and weaknesses. Involves knowledge of the industry – and awareness of the key trends shaping the future of the corporation

Expertise in design and implementation of complex IT solutions
Technical knowledge in area of expertise
Airline Experience is a plus
