At the same time, it offers flexibility you need to focus and do your best work.Mission and GoalsWe are seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Tag Manager (GTM) implementations to join our cybersecurity company. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining robust tracking solutions that deliver reliable data for business intelligence and marketing purposes.As the technical lead for web analytics implementation, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement sophisticated data collection frameworks that adhere to the highest standards of data privacy and security.ObjectivesData Layer Architecture: Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive data layer frameworks that serve as the foundation for all tracking implementations, ensuring consistent, accurate data collection across all digital propertiesGA4 & GTM Implementation: Lead the technical implementation of Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager solutions, including custom dimensions, metrics, and eventsServer-Side Tagging: Develop and deploy server-side tagging solutions to improve site performance, enhance security, and maintain data qualityCustom Tag Development: Create and maintain custom HTML/JavaScript tags, variables, and triggers within GTM to fulfill complex tracking requirementsTracking Pixel Integration:Implement and configure a wide range of marketing, analytics, and conversion tracking pixels across digital propertiesDevelop standardized approaches for pixel deployment including Meta Pixel (Facebook), LinkedIn Insight Tag, Twitter Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Microsoft Advertising (Bing) UET Tags, and various DSP/DMP pixelsArchitect solutions that properly handle first-party and third-party cookie restrictionsCreate custom JavaScript implementations to extend standard pixel functionality for enhanced conversion value tracking and offline conversion importsDevelop secure data mapping between your data layer and third-party pixel requirementsIntegrate with consent management systems like Cheq or OneTrust for pixels to ensure GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulation complianceConfigure server-side forwarding of pixel data when appropriate to improve page performanceDevelop and maintain pixel debugging tools and monitoring systems to ensure continued functionalityData Validation & QA: Create comprehensive testing methodologies to validate data collection accuracy and integrity across all implementationsPerformance Optimization: Monitor and optimize tag implementations to minimize impact on site performance and user experienceDocumentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation for all tracking implementations, data schemas, and integration pointsAnalytics Database Integration: Design and implement processes for exporting analytics data to data warehousing solutions like BigQuery or Snowflake for advanced analysisCompetencies5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on frontend development and web analytics implementationsDeep expertise in JavaScript, including modern ES6+ features and debugging techniquesProven experience designing and implementing complex data layer architecturesAdvanced knowledge of Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, including server-side taggingStrong experience with SQL and data warehousing solutions like BigQuery or SnowflakeFamiliarity with various marketing tracking pixels and their implementation requirementsExperience with tag management systems and their technical limitationsUnderstanding of web performance optimization techniques related to analytics implementationsKnowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and their impact on analytics implementationsExperience with version control systems (Git) and collaboration workflowsPreferred SkillsExperience with Adobe Analytic and Adobe test and Target implementation as well as Adobe Experience Platform are a plus.Expert-level knowledge of pixel-based tracking technologies including:Single-page application (SPA) pixel implementation challenges and solutionsCross-domain tracking configurationEnhanced e-commerce tracking
