- Role encompasses working to improve the external environment through trade association engagement, government relations, media relations and integrated campaign development, including policy, communications, and stakeholder advocacy.
- Trade Association Strategy: Drive trade association strategy and represent Lilly at important industry forums such as FICCI, OPPI, AMCHAM. Ensure Lilly voice is amplified on key issues to protect license to operate.
- Policy: Lead development of evidence-based policy positions, consistent with Lilly’s global policy positions and tailored to local environmental needs. Responsible for all Lilly consultation responses (government and trade association) and direct engagement to shape future health policy. Lead work on long-term planning to support future policy working.
- Advocacy: Advance Lilly’s reputation in prioritized therapy areas via partnership working/relationship building with Government, Advocacy groups etc. to facilitate new therapeutic area launches and maintain presence in established areas aligned to organizational goals. Co-create plans with brand teams to ensure clear strategy and priorities for the team.
- Crisis and Reputation Management: Act as key strategic advisor in the event of a business or reputation issue or crisis. Provide timely updates on key policy and political developments in external environment and advise on how to address them.
- At least 8-10 years’ prior experience in government relations roles.
- Demonstrated experience in government relations, policy and consultation working.
- Demonstrated experience of designing and delivering integrated public affairs strategies.
- Demonstrated experience and success in influencing trade association strategy.
- Deep understanding of the India political system and healthcare/ pharmaceuticals policy development process.
- Proven ability to master complex regulatory and policy issues, and to translate them into clear and concise messaging of direct relevance to the business (commercial, R&D, Regulatory etc.).
- Significant experience working in a global organization or within a matrixed structure.
- Ability to manage issues and crises and stay calm under pressure.
- Professional degree or certifications in Public Policy from reputed institutions.
- Experience working in the pharmaceutical/ healthcare industry.
