Festivals from India, is hiring a detail-oriented Corporate History Researcher & Archivist to join the Kirloskar Group in Pune. In this role you will investigate archival records, documents, photographs and artifacts to construct a comprehensive narrative of the organization’s history.The research analyst will gather historical data from internal and external sources, analyze and interpret this information for accuracy and significance and synthesize findings into reports or presentations. This position requires exceptional research expertise, strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail – in short, the ability to transform dispersed primary sources into a coherent, strategic historical narrative for the company.Please note:
  • The vetting process for this role comprises 2-3 rounds of interviews and may be followed by a brief assignment.

RequirementsRequired Qualifications and Skills
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in History, Archival Studies, Library Science, Museum Studies, or related field (archival/history training preferred).
  • Strong research background with experience in archival or historical research; skilled in using primary sources and records.
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail in examining, interpreting, and documenting materials.
  • Knowledge of archival methods, documentation standards, and archival management/cataloguing software.
  • Exceptional writing skills with ability to produce clear, well-structured reports and narratives.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to explain findings to non-experts.
  • Proficient in digital archives, research databases, MS Office; familiarity with visualization/presentation tools a plus.
  • Critical thinker with ability to frame and pursue relevant research questions.
  • Highly organized, independent, with project management and multitasking ability.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with corporate archives, business history, or heritage research.
  • Background in library, museum, or archival settings, particularly with 20th/21st-century records.
  • Familiarity with digitization practices, metadata standards, or digital humanities tools.
  • Fluency in Marathi or experience translating historical documents.
  • Exposure to oral history methods, including interviews or employee recollections.
  • Experience publishing historical work, curating exhibits, or delivering heritage-related talks.
Duration of Assignment
  • Full-time contract (~6 months) with potential extension up to 12 months, based on project needs.
  • Approx. 40 hours/week; primarily based at Pune Headquarters.
  • Some remote work possible, but regular on-site presence required for archival access and meetings.
Reporting Structure
  • Reports to the Archivist, Kirloskar Group Archives (senior archivist/manager overseeing company history initiatives).
  • Collaborates with Corporate Communications, Legal, HR, and IT teams (for digital archives and support) and with internal stakeholders across the group's companies. May also liaise with external historians, consultants, or vendors as required.
