Job Description:Role SummaryWSP is seeking a Consultant Ecologist (with CAD expertise) to join our large and growing technical support team in India (Noida/Bangalore) to work with our UK wide ecology team.The successful applicant will be a part of data handling, analysis who will be part of WSP iCRC UK Ecology Team, delivering the highest standards of technical work and aiding the continued success of the ecology business by assisting us in our client focused delivery of projects.The work will be focussed on data handling, analysis, report preparation with some level of GIS interpretation. Digitization and documentation of the raw survey information gathered by ecologists in the UK will be prime responsibility. Deliverables will be used in reports and assessments provided to our clients for a range of different commercial and scientific sectors.Responsibilities
  • Handling, sorting and preparation of data sets
  • Digitization and documentation of the raw survey information
  • Identification of habitat types or species distributions coinciding with nationally (UK) recognised standards.
  • Calculating habitat losses and gains through spatial data sets
  • Preparing supporting information for investigations of European Protected Species
  • Conversion of large data sets into .xls./.csv enabled data.
  • Support in Data analysis and report preparation within the iCRC and/or UK Ecology team
  • Actively acquiring knowledge in relevant field and sharing with an inclusive nature.
Key Competencies / SkillsMandatory skills
  • Have academics from any biological sciences – a master’s degree in relevant field of biological sciences/wildlife/environment sciences/ forestry/ or similar disciplines.
  • Experience of Ecological Consultancy or working within the field of biodiversity conservation
  • experience of handling and managing large data sets with analytical approach
  • Have experience of using MS excel, MS word, and google earth.
  • Proven expertise in report writing with good communication skills.
  • Are a good team member with excellent attention to detail.
  • Are confident and highly motivated, with good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
  • Database management
  • Google maps, Google Earth Pro, understanding of GIS software and techniques,
  • Interpretation of GIS, habitat, species level data
Qualifications
  • Have a master’s degree in relevant field of biological sciences/wildlife/environment sciences/ forestry/ or similar disciplines.
