- Safety Plans & Procedures: Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety plans tailored to manufacturing, ensuring compliance with OSHA and local regulations.
- Risk Mitigation: Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) on machinery, materials, and equipment.
- Hazardous Materials/Machinery: Monitor the removal of biological, physical, or chemical hazards and ensure Proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, machine guarding, and personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, and injuries to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Training & Education: Organize safety inductions, regular trainings, and emergency response drills for staff and vendors.
- Environmental Compliance: Oversee environmental safety programs, including waste management, air monitoring, and compliance with EPA standards.
- Asset Protection: Ensure the physical security of personnel, property, and assets through effective guarding, CCTV surveillance, and access control systems.
- Security Audits: Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities.
- Access Control & Monitoring: Manage gate security, visitor management, and perimeter security to prevent unauthorized entry and theft.
- Incident Management: Respond to security breaches, alarms, and emergency situations (fire, theft, vandalism) and coordinate with local law enforcement.
- Security Personnel: Recruit, train, and supervise the security team and external security vendors.
- Regulatory Reporting: Maintain accurate records, including OSHA 300 logs, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Budget Control: Oversee the security and safety budget, including ordering safety gear and maintaining surveillance equipment.
- Regulatory Liaising: Serve as the primary point of contact for external inspectors (OSHA, EPA, fire department).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health, Security Management, or related field.
- Experience: Proven 5+ years of experience in industrial safety or security management, preferably in metal manufacturing or heavy industry.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), or CPP (Certified Protection Professional) are highly preferred.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of OSHA/local safety regulations and physical security best practices (e.g., TAPA standards).
- Skills: Strong leadership, analytical problem-solving, and communication skills; proficiency in MS Office and security technology.
- This role requires frequent walking/standing to inspect machinery and plant floors.
- Exposure to high noise levels, extreme temperatures, and hazardous materials is possible, requiring the use of PPE.
- Occasional on-call availability for emergencies.
- Reduction in Lost Time Injuries (LTI) and Recordable Incidents.
- Safety training compliance percentage.
- Audit findings compliance scores (Internal and External).
- Reduction in shrinkage (theft/loss).
