This role is for one of the Weekday's clientsSalary range: Rs 1500000 - Rs 3000000 (ie INR 15-30 LPA)Min Experience: 10 yearsLocation: ChennaiJobType: full-timeWe are seeking a highly experienced Technical Manager – QA Automation to lead and scale end-to-end quality engineering across web, API, and mobile platforms. This is a strategic leadership role that combines deep technical expertise with people management and innovation in modern QA practices. You will be responsible for defining the automation vision, building scalable frameworks, and embedding a quality-first mindset across the development lifecycle. With a strong focus on intelligent automation, you will also drive the adoption of AI-driven testing approaches to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and coverage. This role requires hands-on architectural involvement, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to influence engineering standards at an organizational level.RequirementsKey Responsibilities
  • Define and own the overall QA automation strategy, ensuring scalable and maintainable frameworks across web, API, and mobile platforms
  • Architect and implement unified test automation solutions covering functional, performance, and integration testing
  • Drive adoption of AI/ML-based testing techniques such as intelligent test generation, predictive defect analysis, and self-healing automation
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable faster, reliable, and continuous releases
  • Evaluate and standardize QA tools and frameworks based on technical fit and long-term scalability
  • Embed quality practices early in the SDLC, promoting a shift-left testing approach across teams
  • Establish and track key quality metrics such as test coverage, defect leakage, and automation ROI to guide decision-making
  • Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, and problem-solving for complex testing challenges
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing QA automation team, fostering innovation and continuous learning
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to align quality initiatives with business and delivery goals
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • 12–16 years of experience in QA, with strong expertise in automation architecture and at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven ability to design and build scalable automation frameworks from scratch across multiple platforms
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML applications in QA, including test optimization and intelligent automation techniques
  • Expertise in API testing and automation using tools such as Rest Assured, Postman, or similar frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with modern automation tools like Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent
  • Experience in mobile test automation using frameworks such as Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools and cloud environments for test automation and infrastructure management
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to balance technical depth, team development, and business impact
