Job Description Summary: The Director, Market Development will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of international cross border payments and lead the charge in driving revenue growth, forging strategic partnerships, and expanding our footprint across global key markets. Job Description: Role Overview: The position sits within the Blockchain, Crypto and Digital Currencies business unit and will work closely with the leadership team of the business to bring the vision of an integrated business and team together. This role will involve frequent interaction with the Senior Leadership Team, as well as all other PayPal leaders and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for cross border distribution network and partnerships Overall business strategy to identify and cultivate strategic partnerships, channels, and opportunities to drive revenue growth and global market expansion Lead the negotiation with external partners, engaging cross functional support colleagues, to ensure successful delivery of solutions for large complex partnerships. Deep business development, negotiation, legal and/or regulatory experience, especially in fintech or cross border payments Alignment of product and business levers (such as pricing and FX) Executes on strategy with an ability to share a clear view in leadership forums (Senior leadership team, etc.) and with the cross-functional teams Engage closely with product, engineering and architecture to help drive the architectural runway and determine the best technical implementation/design while balancing time-to-market needs for critical customer pain points. Represent the end customer on an ongoing basis and use this to drive effective prioritization and decision-making. Collaborate and influence product outcomes in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders - Engineering, Operations, Risk, Legal, Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Finance and Banking Partners. Requirements: 15+ years' experience building end-to-end cross border network and business relationships 10+ years managing large product and technology initiatives across multiple capabilities Experience influencing and aligning partners across different points of view or functions, to drive action and change Experience playing a similar commercial role in a multinational organization Multi-disciplined leader - Strong analytical, strategic, and operational chops Ability to make decisions and progress in the face of ambiguous and at times overlapping priorities, i.e., managing complex deliverables and maintaining high-quality data standards while meeting project timelines Knowledge of (or experience with) retail financial services, money transfers, cross border payments, foreign currency exchange, or other global financial products or services Understanding of international payment processing, the flow of money, and the role of different market participates (banks, processors, issuers, networks, etc.) Knowledge of emerging alternative payment options, fintech, blockchain for payments Demonstrated ability to design, communicate, and implement effective business strategies in highly competitive industries (market positioning, strategic pricing, product differentiation, overcoming market barriers) Experience with highly regulated industries / understanding of global regulatory expectations regarding Know Your Customer/Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money laundering, Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) sanctions, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) Ability to liaise with local central banks and other regulatory agencies Excellent negotiation skills - able to influence and persuade in decision making. Ability to effectively deal with complex relationships at the highest level. Skilled at managing relationships with key partners International experience - ability to work and thrive in a culturally diverse environment/industry.
