In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our cutting-edge Network Operating System (NOS), from initial bring-up on new hardware platforms to the development and sustenance of advanced networking features. You will be a hands-on technical expert, working on the core of our networking stack and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, robust, and scalable solutions for our customers.Detailed Description
- Platform Bring-up & System Features: Lead the bring-up of our NOS on new hardware platforms, including the development and integration of Linux device drivers. Ensure system-level features such as High Availability (HA) and Stacking are robust and performant.
- NOS Development & Sustenance: Design, develop, and maintain software for our NOS, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. This includes troubleshooting and resolving complex issues in the field.
- Network Stack Development: Drive the development of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols. That may need expertise in routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP, as well as other key technologies like MPLS, VXLAN, and QoS. (May not be all the protocols mentioned here)
- Management & Control Plane: Implement and sustain management interfaces and protocols, including SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, REST, CLI, gNMI, and gRPC, to enable seamless integration with network management systems. (May not be all the protocols mentioned here)
- ASIC/NPU Integration: Leverage your strong experience with Broadcom's XGS/DNX family of devices to develop and optimize software for high-performance packet forwarding. Experience with Marvell's Innovium/Prestera family is a plus.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with other engineering teams, QA, and customer-facing teams to ensure the successful delivery and deployment of our products.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as an Individual Contributor in a networking domain.
- Programming Languages: Rich, hands-on experience with C, C++, Python, and GoLang.
- Networking Expertise:
o Proven experience with MPLS, VXLAN, and QoS.
- Management Protocols: Strong understanding and practical experience with network management protocols and APIs (SNMP, NETCONF/YANG, REST, gNMI, gRPC).
- ASICs: Solid working experience with network processor units (NPUs) from Broadcom (XGS/DNX family).
- NOS Experience: Prior experience in Network Operating System (NOS) development or sustenance is essential. Experience with SONiC NOS is a significant advantage.
- Soft Skills:
o Strong written and verbal communication.
o Ability to work effectively with multiple functional teams and customer-facing organizations.
This position is based at our Chennai facility, focusing on core SDK/NOS development.Physical Demands
