- Develop and maintain a comprehensive data governance strategy and roadmap.
- Define enterprise-wide data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
- Establish a data stewardship model including assigning data owners and custodians.
- Data Quality Management
- Define and implement data quality metrics, rules, and controls.
- Monitor data quality across critical data domains; identify and remediate issues.
- Work with data stewards to implement data profiling and cleansing activities.
- Metadata & Lineage Management
- Define standards for metadata management and data lineage tracking.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of business glossaries and metadata repositories.
- Support technical metadata capture and integration with data catalogs.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to data protection regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, etc.).
- Work with legal and compliance teams to evaluate data-related risks and implement controls.
- Conduct data privacy impact assessments where necessary.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Change Management
- Drive cultural change and stakeholder buy-in through training and workshops.
- Act as a liaison between IT and business stakeholders to resolve data governance issues.
- Facilitate data governance councils and steering committee meetings.
- Tooling & Technology
- Evaluate, implement, and administer governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica Axon, or Microsoft Purview.
- Collaborate with Data Platform teams to integrate governance into data pipelines and reporting layers.
