Software cost engineer is responsible to
-Translate the technical requirements of projects (products, software or services) into a cost calculation,
-Understand the software structure for the main functionalities/sub functionalities or detailed software function in order to calculate key cost & complexity drivers.
-Develop software development target costing.
-Prepare activity based detailed software development should cost estimate and apply it to achieve source to cost by supporting on cost optimisation of supplier quoted software development work.
-Understand the software for the components and systems within the powertrain, chassis, safety and control, electronic systems, comfort and control, infotainment and networking, cockpit, and HMI as well as in the areas of safety, driver assistance and automated driving.
-Develop category specific key components or system knowledge repository covering competition, technology, products, manufacturing processes etc and apply it in developing cost models.Dimensions of the position

Education Graduation in Engineering or Master in Computer Science, MBASkills/ Competencies
1. Software project management skills with a sound knowledge of the processes and how software is specified and described.
2. Software purchase and development background preferably in automotive, with a strong interest in estimating.
3. Strong analytical skills, solution-oriented.
4. Model should cost tools and databases to develop the most cost-effective design and development options for software of components and systems.
5. Exposure to analysis of Statement of Requirements (SOR), Request for Quotation (RFQ) and cost packs for preparation of software development cost estimate.
6. Function-cost-value analysis & cost reduction idea generation levers
7. Supply chain & value stream mapping
8. Exposure in software languages such as VB, .net, Java, Python etc.EducationWork ExperienceRelevant Experience :1.3 to 7 years of experience in the domain of technology type company (Auto Ancillary and embedded software development process)
2.Good Knowledge of latest trend in technologies & embedded software development in automobile design/manufacturing domain.
3.Experience of cost reduction programs
4.Experience in lean manufacturing or six sigma programs will considered a plus.Communications
