- Drive fundamental improvements to IT operations and the implementation of security best practices through engineering, in collaboration with the Mercari Japan IT and Security teams.
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in IT and security operations, and design and implement effective, scalable solutions.
- Automate manual processes and operational tasks, with a focus on optimizing configurations for Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Mobile Device Management (MDM), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Identity Provider (IDP) platforms.
- Develop and maintain security and IT standards for Mercari’s corporate infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Engineering team to design and implement a stable, secure, and optimized endpoint and corporate network environment.
- Foster a culture of innovation by staying up-to-date with technological advancements and identifying opportunities to introduce new solutions that drive security and operational excellence.
- Experience working as a security architect or IT architect.
- In-depth understanding of Zero Trust architecture principles and their practical application in enterprise environments.
- Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure, including TCP/IP, networking, servers, authentication, directory services, and endpoint management.
- Experience building, administering, or improving IT security solutions (IAM, MDM, EDR, DLP).
- Experience integrating security best practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Familiarity with applied cryptography concepts such as key management, TLS, PKI, and KMS.
- [Optional] Conversational Japanese proficiency is a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience in designing and developing large-scale IT and/or security systems.
- Strong understanding of fundamental computer security concepts (e.g., CIA triad, principle of least privilege, authentication vs. authorization).
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with software development tools and practices, including Git, GitHub, CI/CD tools, and shell scripting.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or equivalent technologies.
- Proven ability to write technical design proposals and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience working with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
