They conduct inspections, prepare reports, manage materials, and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.Key ResponsibilitiesSplicing and Repairing:Joining sections of conveyor belts using hot or cold vulcanization, performing patch repairs, and sealing damaged edges.Installation:Setting up new conveyor systems, including aligning and tensioning the belts.Maintenance:Regularly inspecting belts and components, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring the proper functionality of conveyor systems.Equipment Operation:Safely and efficiently operating specialized tools and equipment, such as splicing presses, grinders, skivers, and buffing tools.Safety Compliance:Adhering to strict safety procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE and following Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to prevent accidents.Site Preparation:Assisting with the preparation of work sites and ensuring all safety protocols are followed.Material Management:Determining and selecting the appropriate materials and tools for each job.Record Keeping:Documenting all repairs and maintenance activities accurately.Troubleshooting:Identifying and resolving issues with conveyor belt systems to ensure efficient operation.Communication:Clearly communicating with supervisors, team members, and other stakeholders regarding the status of work and any issues.Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience in conveyor belt repair and maintenance is essential.
Technical Skills: Ability to perform hot and cold vulcanized splicing, use grinding and cutting tools, and understand belt construction.
Safety Awareness: Strong understanding and commitment to workplace health and safety standards.
Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physical tasks, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Trade Qualification: A trade certificate in Polymer Processing is often desired but not always essential.
Work Ethic: A strong work ethic and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
