JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE ASSISTANT TEAM LEAD ROLE Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Assistant Team Lead to join our New Product Development (NPD) team within the food industry. The ideal candidate will assist in leading a team of professionals dedicated to conceptualizing, designing, and bringing new food products to market. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of food science and technology, and a passion for creating exceptional products that meet consumer demands. Responsibilities: Assist the Team Lead in overseeing all aspects of the New Product Development process from ideation to commercialization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, research and development, quality assurance, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure alignment and successful execution of NPD initiatives. Lead brainstorming sessions to generate innovative product ideas that align with market trends and consumer preferences. Conduct market research and analyse consumer insights to identify opportunities for new product development and differentiation. Develop project timelines, milestones, and budgets to ensure projects are completed on time and within budgetary constraints. Coordinate prototype development, formulation, and sensory evaluation sessions to optimize product attributes and taste profile Assist in managing relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and co-manufacturers to support NPD activities. Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment. Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory requirements related to food product development. Assist in the preparation of presentations, reports, and business cases to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to senior management. Requirements: Ph.D in Food Science/Food Technology. 0-1 year of experience in new product development within the food industry, with a focus on food formulation and sensory evaluation. Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software. Knowledge of food regulations and safety standards (FDA, USDA, etc.).Experience working with food manufacturing processes and equipment is a plus. Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and a keen eye for consumer trends. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapt to changing priorities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details.
