JOB DESCRIPTION Head - Smart Battery ROLE DESCRIPTION This is a senior role within the core leadership team of the company and shall be responsible for Leading development of Smart Battery packs for 2 wheeler ,3 wheeler and other vehicle platforms as per business needs. QUALIFICATION Ideal candidate shall be a Graduate or Postgraduate in engineering with 7+ years' experience in development of Battery packs in Electric vehicles domain with minimum overall experience of 20 years in automotive sector ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES Lead a team engaged in development of smart Batteries for different electric vehicle platforms. Manage people, processes and projects to deliver best in class products in line with company's business goals. Lead all efforts for continuous improvement of current products and services in the area. Responsible for all aspects of Smart Batteries - including choice of technologies, mechanical/ electrical/ thermal/ functional architectures, performance, safety, regulatory compliance, and reliability. Work effectively with internal and external teams for meeting QCD objectives of each program. Ensure regulatory compliance of Smart batteries and guide production processes. Responsible for building and nurturing a team that can consistently deliver best in class products. Effectively work with embedded electronics and application development teams to ensure best lifetime throughput by guiding on SOC/SOH algorithms and data analysis. Responsible for tracking /evaluating emerging technologies in the area, formulation of appropriate road maps for the products and implementing them. Create unique IP for the company in the area of Battery packs development and usage. Guide, mentor and educate all relevant stakeholders in the company on the usage, evaluation and understanding of Batteries. PREFERRED SKILLS & DOMAIN EXPERTISE Hands on Work experience with design & Development in Automotive and Lithium-ION Battery pack. Familiarity with performance of different battery chemistries and performance parameters with hands on experience in Lithium Battery packs. Demonstrated experience in automotive applications of different Lithium-ion cell chemistries and inter relation with other subsystems. In depth understanding of automotive international and Indian standards for EVs and Battery packs. Experience working in EV battery, Battery & Cell chemistry Development. BMS/Battery pack error detection & Cell applications Battery pack development & integration also should understand battery pack behavior. Whole Battery pack Design & testing Experience in High and low voltage lithium-ION battery pack design meeting Indian and international standards. Review the battery pack design in terms of meeting Structural durability, Crash safety, electrical safety. Defining battery management algorithms to estimate SOC & SOH Experience in design and development of thermal management system for battery packs including liquid cooling and advanced materials for thermal management. Knowledge of mechanical, structural and environmental aspects of small and large Battery packs for electric vehicles with particular focus on swappable packs. Experience in developing high voltage battery packs with multiple cell modules. Good understanding of electrical vehicle architecture and interactions of other subsystems with Battery packs. Knowledge of simulation methodologies and algorithms for safety and performance enhancements in battery management systems. Understanding of BMS architectures, charging systems and methodologies. The candidate should be a creative and analytical thinker with a deep technical understanding of lithium-ion battery cells and proven leadership and project management expertise. The candidate shall have a strong exposure to quality systems, failure prediction, analysis and mitigation techniques. DESIRED ATTRIBUTES The candidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and must be able to design and conduct complex experiments. Ability to respond to multiple priorities simultaneously; ability to coordinate team and projects to meet the company needs. Experience in developing unique IP as demonstrated by patents, papers in leading technical publications. Self-motivated personality with strong deliverables orientation, capable of working on tight deadlines.
