Job Description:This role is for one of the Weekday's clientsSalary range: Rs 4800000 - Rs 6000000 (ie INR 48-60 LPA)Min Experience: 20 yearsLocation: MumbaiJobType: full-timeWe are seeking a seasoned General Manager - Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) to lead and strengthen the organization's EHS strategy, governance, and compliance framework. This is a senior leadership role responsible for embedding a strong safety culture while ensuring alignment with corporate laws, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. Based in Mumbai, this role requires a strategic thinker with deep domain expertise who can drive enterprise-wide EHS initiatives across multiple locations.The ideal candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding people, assets, and the environment, while enabling sustainable business growth. You will work closely with leadership, legal, and operational teams to design scalable systems, ensure compliance, and mitigate risks across the organization.Requirements:Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive EHS strategy aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as applicable corporate laws and statutory frameworks
  • Establish and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and standards across all business units and locations
  • Lead risk assessment initiatives, hazard identification, and mitigation planning to ensure a safe working environment
  • Drive safety culture transformation through training programs, awareness initiatives, and leadership engagement
  • Oversee audits, inspections, and compliance reviews; ensure timely closure of observations and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to interpret corporate laws and ensure adherence to regulatory obligations
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures
  • Lead sustainability and environmental initiatives, including waste management, emissions control, and resource optimization
  • Build and manage a high-performing EHS team, ensuring capability development and succession planning
  • Engage with external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and auditors as required
  • Provide regular reports and insights to leadership on EHS performance, risks, and compliance status
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • 20+ years of experience in EHS leadership roles, preferably in large or multi-location organizations
  • Strong expertise in Environment, Health & Safety practices along with in-depth knowledge of corporate law and regulatory compliance
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise-level EHS frameworks and governance models
  • Deep understanding of statutory regulations, audits, and risk management practices
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change and embed safety-first thinking across organizations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Experience in managing audits, regulatory interactions, and compliance reporting
  • High attention to detail with a proactive and structured approach to risk mitigation
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, complex environments with a strategic mindset
