Job Description:Scope of RoleDesign Engineer is responsible to within the area of exterior trims product development and details product design acc ording to standards and guidelines. Translate defined product design performance criteria in CAD data & specifications. Applies a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures related to Automotive Exterior trimsArea of ResponsibilityThis position is responsib le for new design and development of exterior trims like Bumpers, Wheel arch liners, Cladding, Cowl vent grill, Canopy parts, Roof rail finishers, Spoiler etc. Should be able to produce engineering design and concepts into 3D model using CATIA V5.You will have re sponsibility for:• Design and development of exterior trim parts by using CATIA V5 software.• Provide technical solution and generate CAD data (3D & 2D) for exterior trims.• Development of Concept and Master sections, leading and pro gressing the design in line with the program timescales and deliverable cadence (CATIA V5)• Design Exterior trim product a ssembly parts to meet styling intent and ensure regulatory requirements• Adequate knowledge of plastic moulding and design process, DFMEA, DVP, DFA/DFM & GD&T.• Knowledge of GD&T; and its implications, Supplier Statement-Of-Requirements, compon ent drawings, Standards and Guidelines etc.• Interface with Customer engineering and supplier to achieve technically feasi ble designs.• Ensure overall product design including implementation into CAD by using inputs with regard to results of si mulation, tests and validation and all project deliverables are met.• Upholds customer working practices, rules and regula tions and supports a positive collaborative culture.• Maintain design logs of all engineering requests or direction• Ensuring issues that cannot be resolved are escalated to Lead Engineer• Ensuring that the all project deliverables is met at given time.• Identifying all risks of the programme and make appropriate capitalization documents (Lessons learned , Technical Reports) to feed/improve Design and Development standards and guidelines.• Operates flexibly conducts all duti es reasonable requested by direct manager, customer and or key stakeholders.• To be able to assign and get the work done f rom GETs, CAD Engineers.• Ensuring issues that cannot be resolved are escalated to Lead EngineerKnowledge / ExperienceE ssential:• Minimum of 3-5 years of automotive product engineering experience required specifically in automotive Exterior trim system and component design with a strong preference for experience with the Exterior plastic design.• Extensive expe rience in using CATIA V5• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Good Knowledge of and/or training in: o Global Exterior trim regulations (Knowhow of Indian standards will be an added advantage)o Plastic injection m oulding processes (both tooling and design)o Exterior trim design validation requiremento Exterior parts specifi c manufacturing requiremento Design and development knowledge of exterior trim such as Bumpers, Wheel arch liners, Claddi ng, Cowl vent grill, Canopy parts, Roof rail finishers, Spoiler etc.• PC Literacy: Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word, CatiaV5, etc• Ability to generate CAD data in Catia V5.• Working knowledge of project delivery processes e .g.
