Sr Manager, Security Engineering will Lead, mentor and manage software engineering teamstocontinuallyimprove the security posture of Uber's services and infrastructure. The role incumbent will set organizational direction by identifying technical priorities and opportunities, managing expectations, and considering tradeoffs.They will model relationships-building and encourages trust across organizations, and consulting with relevant stakeholders when making decisions in ambiguous environments. They will empower delivery by forming actionable plans, allocating responsibilities, and maintaining productivity across engineering teams with well-defined goals and metrics. They will develop the team's structure in alignment with broader organizational strategy and vision, owning: hiring, performance management, and employee development of individual contributors as well as managers. They will champion best software engineering practices and empowers managers to build a strong culture of quality to achieve operational excellence.What you will do:We are seeking an experienced Sr Engineering Manager to lead our engineering security team. In this role you will be responsible for defining and setting our organizational-level security strategies, designing and building our next-generation security platforms and services, managing a team of highly skilled security and software engineers, and collaborating with product and operations teams to improve Uber's security posture at scale and across private and public clouds. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and security, and a proven track record of delivering large-scale production systems and managing and mentoring engineering teams.What you will need:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
7+ years full-time work experience in software engineering, product development and/or security engineering prior to Engineering Management experience
5+ years full-time Engineering Management work experience
Ability to problems solve and make complex decisions with incomplete information in ambiguous situations and environments
Great interpersonal skills, deep technical ability, and a track record of successful execution in engineering security or product development at cloud-scale.

Bonus points, if:

Master's Degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
Prior experience in leading teams over multiple locations, and working across multiple in-house engineering organizations
Familiarity with development of production services on public cloud providers (GCP, OCI, Azure or AWS).
In-depth knowledge of security software frameworks, tools, and best practices.
