Position: Welding Engineer Experience: 2 to 5 years Industry: Fabrication Heavy Engineering Manufacturing Location: Trichy, India Salary Range: 18,000 - 20,000 per month About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Welding Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our welded products. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in welding processes, materials, codes, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods to contribute to various aspects of the welding operations. Responsibilities: Analyze engineering designs and specifications to determine welding requirements. Select appropriate welding processes, materials, and procedures based on project needs, industry standards (e.g., AWS, ASME), and NDT considerations. Develop and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) in accordance with applicable codes and specifications, ensuring compliance with WPS/Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR)/Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) requirements. Interpret and apply NDT techniques (e.g., Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT)) to ensure weld quality. Review and approve welding contractor qualifications, considering their CSWIP (Confederation of Shipbuilding & Welding Industry Personnel) certification (if applicable) and alignment with project NDT requirements. Conduct inspections of welds to ensure they meet quality standards as defined by WPS, WPQR, and PQR documents. Troubleshoot welding problems, recommend corrective actions, and document solutions to maintain quality control. Provide technical support to fabrication and assembly teams regarding welding processes, NDT, and quality control procedures. Stay up-to-date on the latest welding technologies, NDT methods, and best practices. Maintain accurate welding documentation, including WPS, WPQR, PQR, and NDT reports. May participate in the creation of new welding procedures or revising existing ones, ensuring alignment with WPS/WPQR/PQR requirements. May be involved in training other personnel on welding processes, NDT techniques, and quality control procedures. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Welding Engineer in a relevant industry (e.g., manufacturing, fabrication). Strong understanding of welding processes (e.g., GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, SAW) and their applications. Knowledge of welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME) and their implications for WPS/WPQR/PQR development. Experience with welding procedure development and qualification (WPS/WPQR/PQR). Experience with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods (RT, UT, MT, PT) and their application in weld inspection. Familiarity with CSWIP certification standards (if applicable to your industry). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
