As a Senior Mechanical Engineer deployed to our Site Projects team, this role will drive project, technical and engineering delivery through our Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner’s by guiding, advising, reviewing and providing static mechanical and piping expertise and oversight to various project stakeholders. This role is based at the bp TSI Pune office but may also require contractor facing work at major engineering contractor offices intermittently.What you will deliverProvide mechanical and pipeline engineering expertise to P&O bp Solutions Site Projects teamsSupport the Site Projects Team to deliver mechanical and pipeline engineering scopes in front-end loading stages (FEL) and Detailed Engineering of projects, including:provide technical review, guidance and approval of design engineering and construction contractor deliverablesequipment specification and selection as well as engineering package technical contentReview of technical bid analysis of equipmentprovide pipeline modelling, including hydraulics and pipe stressprovide technical evaluations of requests for exceptions/deviations to specifications or standardsprovide support during construction to ensure site technical queries, non-conformances, concession requests are properly resolvedprovide development, oversight, assurance and planning of the system integrity management systemdetermine risks to project delivery and ensure adequate risk mitigation plans are in placework with engineering contractor(s) to verify they are performing required activities in line with project schedules and assist bp’s Engineering Manager in contract performance managementEnsure that engineering contractor(s) apply bp’s Engineering Practices in engineering designsprovide mechanical and pipeline expertise to project MoCsassure quality and consistency in static mechanical equipment, equipment packages, pipeline, piping design and fabricationRecord and share relevant learningsReview of Vendor Quality Control Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, documents and drawingsAssist in preparation of factory acceptance test (FAT)Provide mechanical and pipeline expertise, technical support and facilitate as necessary in hazard identification and risk assessment processes, such as HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPAExceptionally, support other engineers in the mechanical and rotating equipment discipline engineering team to deliver engineering expertise through mentoring, coaching and peer reviewCoach earlier career engineers to aid in their technical and professional developmentProvide visible safety leadership in accordance with bp safety leadership principles, lifesaving rules and process safety fundamentals to model desired safety culture and behaviorsRecord relevant lessons learned in the bp shared learning system, escalate as necessary and incorporate into local activities, both in the discipline engineering community as well as the site projects teams; and follow through to drive incorporation into specifications, practices and proceduresSupport performance management through implementation, measurement, and analysis of relevant KPI’s to drive continuous improvementWhat you will need to be successfulMust have educational qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or demonstrated equivalent)Preferred education/certifications:Chartered Engineer or registered professional engineerMinimum years of relevant experience:12 years in oil and gas/petrochemical/ refining/ chemical or equivalent, with minimum five (5) years’ experience of Engineering work in Capital projects.
