Job Description:What You'll DoAvalara is looking for a Software Development Engineer Test to drive forward and oversee exciting new projects across our VAT Platform suite of products and services. We are growing and evolving our products and are looking for motivated people to join us on this journey. A successful candidate will be a well-rounded, experienced technical lead with a proven track record of leading and enabling teams in the design, build and testing of enterprise level software solutions.
Job DutiesJob DutiesWhat will you do:Be a key participant in creating a Quality First culture. Promote Shift-Left testingEngage in continuous testing activity throughout agile development iterations to ensure zero defectsDevelop and execute automated tests – Functional, Regression, Smoke and Load/Performance testsParticipate in iteration planning, providing input on required test tasks, process, and associated effort for the selected user storiesDrive improvement of CI/CD processes, including automated test development and strategyMonitor, manage and maintain test runs and provide clear reporting of test results and metricsMentor others on best practices for test automation, performance testing, CI/CD and QA processesParticipate in QA collaborations across the wider organisation and help propagate industry best practices in QABe collaborative and work to advance the business, product and team
What You'll Need to be SuccessfulExperienceGeneral8+ years experience in software testing or 6+ years experience with a master's level degreeUnderstanding of application security conceptsExperience working within dispersed non co-located teamsExperience in agile methodologies and processesExperience working with JIRATechnicalDemonstrable experience of having worked with and built or extended frameworks for automated testingExperience developing automated tests for web applicationsExperience using various tools such as Nightwatch/Selenium WebDriver/BrowserStack, Specflow/Cucumber/Postman and JMeter/TaurusExperience in performance, load and reliability engineeringExperience in analysing and troubleshooting complex issues and critical production problemsOtherExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent attention to detailDemonstrable high standards of excellenceTrack record of a high level of technical judgement, ownership, and executionProven ability to make things happen and meet commitmentsOptional (preferred)Experience in similar business domain or demonstrable experience in building and articulating business domain knowledge
About the TeamQualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalentExcellent understanding of test methodologies and software engineering throughout all phases of the software development lifecycleExcellent QA skills: planning, exploratory testing, defect reporting, troubleshooting and debuggingStrong understanding of object-oriented design & development and common design patternsStrong knowledge of .NET frameworkStrong knowledge of DevOps (AWS, CICD, TF, K8)Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server/any other RDBMS
