JOB SCOPE Role : Network Engineer Ensure Baxter s Network infrastructure is operating at an optimal level using metrics and report tools to identify problems or opportunities for improvements. Manage a network fault detection tool such as Solarwinds and all activities and tasks to restore network services at all basic levels. The primary purpose of this role is to solve network faults via a process consistent with ITIL, best practices and scripts. This role includes managing day-to-day network operations to ensure 100% network health and to proactively seek out all performance KPIs and metrics to prevent issues before they can occur. L1s will solve up to 80% of all network faults independently and ensure appropriate escalation with L2 and others to solve the remaining 20% complex incidents. Provide technical support, performing root cause analysis, and troubleshooting for problem resolution. Engage and interface with other suppliers, carriers, ISPs and network personnel to drive fault resolution including investigation, analysis and RCA documentation. Be on duty and accountable to ensure Global Network health with focus on assigned region but will overlap and cross other regions and time zones as necessary to drive or assist with critical network faults impacting business or IT systems functionality. Engage other support personnel including within the EOC, Baxter network engineers and Cisco CMS and Cisco TAC as needed to manage a fault event to drive efficiency and effectiveness in resolving network issues. Create process and follow existing process, best practices, SOPs, compliance and training requirements. This includes following and using Baxter's Remedy change control as well as manage tickets on this platform to ensure effective fault communications and awareness. Responsibilities Manage, maintain, troubleshoot, and insure stable operations for all network servers, physical and virtual. Support international network and system operations 24/7. Manage the Cisco Phone System including Call Managers, Call Center Express, Unity Connections voice mail and external VOIP Softphone users. Troubleshoot the VPN and other remote connection issues related to firewalls, routers, servers and network bandwidth. Manage WAN connection to Hill-Rom, as well as remote customer locations. Coordinate the install/updates, patches and service packs on servers and software packages throughout the enterprise. Manage and troubleshoot infrastructure including routers, switches, ASA/PIX firewalls, power, HVAC, fire suppression and wiring. Determine when more involved issues should be outsourced and manage work done by outside vendors. Investigate, source, price and order network hardware and software. Build and configure servers as needed for various IT projects. Design, build, manage and upgrade ERP and QMS backend servers and SQL databases. Manage reporting online services, connections and update scripts. Maintain Cisco wireless hardware and networks including Prime, ACS and MSE servers. Manage EMC Storage Area Network, iSCSI switching and VMWare host connections. Monitor the PRI (phone line), analog lines and TW 35mb fiber connection. Work with TW Telecom and other outside vendors to resolve service problems. Job Requirements Bachelors Degree required Overall experience required: 3-6 years Infrastructure Architecture and/or Application Architecture Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize and organize work Must be a self-motivator and team player Passionate about continuous learning and keeping up with latest technologies Must be willing to work on a distributed team Operational support, systems management and administration experience with Cisco Call Manager and I3 Call Center background desired
