The Opportunity: Manage pricing strategy for the organization's products and/or services. Develop, manage, and implement organization strategies, processes, systems, and actions that assure the business achieves optimal price realization and drives data-based decisions at the enterprise level for sales and marketing. Establish pricing tools and analytical methods to identify gross margin improvements and profit leak. Build and maintain pricing models that translate key performance indicators (KPIs) and test revenue projections. Work alongside analytics leadership to identify and implement improvements in analytical techniques and data infrastructure to improve the quality of pricing decisions. Manages a team of entry/intermediate professionals or Supervisors with a focus on setting objectives, plans and tactics with direct impact on the immediate or short-term operational results of the department Avantor is looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking, and experienced Manager - Pricing Intelligence, who will be responsible for delivering results against some of the most complex business and technology initiatives. How you will Thrive & Create an Impact: The Data Science Manager, Pricing Intelligence will lead the charge in harnessing data to drive strategic pricing decisions that significantly impact our competitive edge, customer satisfaction, and financial success. This role demands a blend of analytical prowess, innovative thinking, and leadership skills to develop and implement pricing strategies based on deep data analysis and insights. You will guide a dedicated team of data scientists and analysts, fostering their growth and enabling them to contribute effectively to our pricing objectives. Responsibilities: Pricing Strategy Development : Lead the creation of data-driven pricing strategies that optimize profitability while ensuring customer satisfaction. Utilize predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis to identify pricing opportunities and challenges. Analytics and Insights : Conduct thorough data analyses to extract actionable insights that inform pricing decisions. Monitor and evaluate the impact of pricing strategies on market performance and adjust as necessary. Team Leadership : Manage and mentor a team of data scientists and analysts, setting clear goals, promoting professional development, and encouraging a culture of innovation and data-driven decision making. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with sales, marketing, finance, and product teams to ensure alignment of pricing strategies with broader business objectives. Serve as the primary data science liaison to these departments for pricing-related initiatives. Innovation and Improvement : Continuously seek and implement new methodologies and technologies for pricing analysis and optimization. Foster a culture of innovation within the team. Communication and Reporting : Effectively communicate findings, strategies, and performance metrics to senior management and stakeholders. Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations that translate complex data into understandable and actionable insights. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, Economics, or related field At least 5 years of experience in data science, ML and AI, with proven track record of delivering impactful and scalable solutions. At least 3 years focused on pricing strategy and optimization and managing and leading data science and engineering teams. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL). Demonstrated success in developing and executing pricing strategies that have positively impacted business performance. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capability to present complex data in a clear and persuasive manner. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing projects with multiple stakeholders. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to handle ambiguity and uncertainty. Passionate about data science, ML and AI, and eager to learn and grow.
